It always annoyed me when he got his arm broken by Roger and he kept running out of bounds to run out the clock and win on points. Not that that would make me root against him over a decade later lol, just an annoyance.
I also think it would be a shame if Jacare never got a title shot. I can't imagine there are TOO many better guys in UFC history who fought in the ufc as long as he has and never even got a shot.
Anyway, the fact that guys like Maia aren't any more athletic than Joe Schmo yet still implement their bjj so ridiculously effectively due to superior technical ability isn't a negative to me, its by far a positive.
Yeah, Jacare has a history of dirtiness in pure BJJ competition.
Man, he should have gotten a title shot after the Mousasi win. One of the biggest travesties in contemporary UFC history. Instead, they made him fight Camozzi a second time? They more or less came out & said he wasn't marketable & they didn't want him as champ. Very sad for the fans. Even right now, I think he beats anyone outside of Whittaker. Perhaps Gastelum would KO him, but I could see Jacare overpowering him on the ground.
I hear you, that's why most people are fans of Maia. Gives pedestrians hope that they could do well in professional combat, hah (not referring to you). I just can't stand the guy. He's been involved in so many stinkers & snoozefests that I just can't be bothered to tune into his "fights" anymore. I like watching him in pure BJJ comp though.
