I'm going to hold off on being excited for that fight until the cage door closes.

I thin it's safe to get hyped when (if) Khabib makes his walkout.

Hmm, better hold off until after he successfully traverses the stairs into the cage, just in case.

Edson seems to be very forgotten in the title picture, but he’s dangerous for anyone.

I was hoping for a MMAFighting "Pros react to the A.J. Green Fight"

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Who the hell else could even replace Frankie? Holloway is in a weird spot where he basically cleared the division on his way to the title shot lol.
Also, that's a blow to the card but not sure losing Edgar makes it a non-threadworthy event.

KZ would have been the best option. Hadn't faced him. But apparently he suffered a gruesome knee injury that he will probably never return the same from.
T-City Ortega is 5-0 in the UFC and training for a fight the following week against Cub. That would be an adequate alternative so the show goes on.

I was thinking Korean Zombie too, but does he deserve a shot? Had a good win in his first fight back after 3 yrs in military.

T-City would be fine. Please, God, not Cub. That's cruel.

I think they will give it to Cub, even though I would prefer to see Ortega get the chance. I think that would be one hell of a fight between Max and Ortega. It would have to be one of those two though Im guessing.

You guys see something I don't with Ortega. Also unclear if he can cycle off in time.

He doesn't get mentally broken in fights, displays a good chin, puts combos together, uses all his tools, and is slick on the ground. It's a similar breakdown as Tony Ferguson. Certainly worth a late replacement fight. He's the best option available. You'd prefer Cub Swanson? You talk even more derisively about him, like he's an untalented journeyman, and we already saw that fight. Make the best of a bad situation.

I don't really recall hating on Cub except arguing vigorously with cbr that Holloway would smash him. Otherwise I argued that he shouldn't get a title fight over his recent win streak over Dias/Kawajiri, etc.
When I made my original post my thought was that we are still a month out and surely they could find someone better, but slim pickings based on the rankings...if T-City is the only one that makes sense, so be it. But that will be an absolute beating due to Ortega's heart. IDK if I've ever seen that guy be winning a fight until he does.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Pretty good card, actually. Many dudes just looking to stave off declines or ride off with some dignity but most with some fight left.
That said, Dodson vs Moraes should maybe headline the main rather than be stuck on the prelims. For the 5 rounds, if nothing else. Duuuuude, that is an insane fight. With both guys going to come in hungry. Clash of so much speed. Moraes by KO.
That said x 2: there a couple fighters who should not be sanctioned to fight. Brown, Diego, Andrei, Marquardt....the total KO losses between those four in the past couple years - 15? ...20? Dudes who have just been stomped all over.
