Hate how everyone is picking their fights now. I know as champ you have a bit more say but c'mon, let's do some defending before you start picking your fights

Amen. It makes me appreciate DJ more. He has defended his belt as many times as the other 9 champions combined and he just fought a guy straight from TUF.

Any particular reason why Cody Garbrandt thinks he's a superstar?

STFU and defend your belt on a foreign event at a weird time like the other sub-155ers.

So you guys think the ufc has went so WWE that they would deny title shots to interim champions?

EDIT: This is irrelevant anyway now that Khabib/Tony is signed.

Given that they tried to make Khabib / Aldo, which would have left Holloway out, yes.

Hallelujah. Though instead of an interim belt they should get a promise ring.

There's a difference in the interim title holder not being the next fight for the champion due to a division change for said champion as opposed to some other 45er jumping Holloway for the 45 belt.

E.g., There is no guarantee that Khabib/Tony winner is Conor's next fight. However there is almost a 100% chance that the winner would be his next fight at LW unless he vacates the belt or gets stripped. This is assuming that Khabib/Tony is for interim. IDK if it is, just an example.

I don't see a 209 thread yet, but looks like its Woodly vs Wonderboy 2.
I hate rematches, but it's warrented when the fight is a draw.

Just gotta feel for Maia. Last week on the mmabeat, I think they were saying that Woodley had lots of options, but Maia wasn't even on the list.

Ya, agreed. He'll be 40 by the time he gets a shot and even that is doubtful.

He needs to take another fight and beat a contender, because sitting isn't going to help and his victory over Condit (retired) and Matt Brown (1-5 in last 6) really isn't a strong case for a title shot anymore.

I don't really think its fair to downplay his Condit victory. Most people had Condit beating Lawler for the title, and Maia cut through him like a blade of grass.

I don't think Condit is retired anyway.

How long will Mirko go between retirements this time? My guess is that he has at least one fight by this time next year.

Why is a champion fighting the #1 contender? I don't get it.

Felt like he should've took the fight with Lawler. I really feel like he needs another big win before the title shot as the Condit and I guess the Neil Magny wins were the only ones over title contenders.

Ya, Im in the same boat. Waiting for your shot is a dangerous game, and one you can't play when you are 39 years old.

Mayweather said he tried to make the McGregor fight. He wanted a guaranteed 100 million, offered McGregor 15 million guaranteed plus a back end percentage. He also said it's the only fight he's interested in that would get him to come out of retirement.

Mark Hunt files civil suit against UFC, Dana White, Brock Lesnar

So I am not a lawyer, but I don't see how Hunt has any legal grounds to win this.

I think Damian is better off just holding out. He destroyed Condit now ranked 6th who went toe-to-toe with the former champ in Lawler and Magny who is currently ranked 8th. There is too much risk for him to take another fight, a loss would be catastrophic at his age. I mean Woodley waited it out after the Hendricks fight fell through. Ended up being a 1.5year layoff.

Given the landscape of the WW division, the only two fighters that can potentially leap frog him is Cerrone if he destroys Masvidal or if Conor decides to move up for that 3rd belt. Both of which have a pretty good chance of occurring.

He doesn't. I'd feel a lot worse for him if he didn't make over 700K on that Lesnar fight.

Isn't his argument that they knew Lesnar was juicing and pushed the fight through anyway? If his lawyers can prove that, it seems like something, though I'm sure the UFC's lawyers are much better.

Maybe he's just hoping for a settlement?
