He doesn't. I'd feel a lot worse for him if he didn't make over 700K on that Lesnar fight.

'
Isn't his argument that they knew Lesnar was juicing and pushed the fight through anyway? If his lawyers can prove that, it seems like something, though I'm sure the UFC's lawyers are much better.

Maybe he's just hoping for a settlement?

He also said that he'd fight Lesnar whether he was juiced or not. That might not mean much, but I'm sure a multi-billion dollar company can hire some lawyers that can use that in just about anyway they'd need to.

If Mark is hoping for a settlement, the UFC could easily just slow the process down and bankrupt the guy. It's a stupid battle, he would have been better off saying give Struve two fights in a way and winning the fight bonus and knock out of the night bonus twice lol.

Of all the discussion points this lawsuit fosters, or all the (many) reasons you could argue this lawsuit is misguided, you feel the need for some reason to point out the most irrelevant aspect of the story which is how much money Hunt made in that fight.

I think Hunt's only hope is if there is some weird evidence that the UFC knew about Brock beforehand. Before anyone says that's unrealistic, keep in mind that they knew full well going into UFC 152 that Vitor was juiced to the gills and still threw Bones in there blind against him.

I doubt he has any evidence of that though.

Gotta give him credit though for filing the lawsuit after signing a fight. Brilliant. UFC can't just keep him on the sidelines this way.

If a fighter gets injured, can't they just take Overeem from the fight with Hunt and put him in that? Then they can sit on hunt.
Or is there conditions that won't allow that?

Hunt is probably hoping like hell that Overeem pops. Seriously though, if you look at his opponent list it is pretty ridiculous how many juicers the guy has fought.

Brock, Mir, Bigfoot, Rothwell, McCorkle off the top of my head, with Overeem on deck. That's just the UFC btw, not counting Pride when steroids wasn't cheating, but at that time he fought CroCop who is a known juicer. I'm sure there are many more.

Conor and mayweather... what a joke. Remember when MMA was setup and was about as far off from corrupt boxing as possible?? Them's were the days

Stipe Miocic calls UFC 203 contract ‘a slap in the face,’ says UFC ‘took my kindness for weakness’

“[It’s] terrible,” Miocic said on The MMA Hour. “Things definitely need to be changed. Something’s gotta change. It’s not really fair.”

Miocic defeated Overeem via first-round knockout in a remarkable performance last September after being received as a star by his native Clevelanders all throughout fight week.

As the reigning and defending UFC heavyweight champion, Miocic earned a $600,000 payout for the fight, while Overeem pocketed $800,000 in defeat, according to figures released by the Ohio Athletic Commission after the event. And Miocic said he only learned about the vast pay gap once the numbers were made public.

“I just felt like I was kinda crapped on a little bit,” Miocic said. “I try to do things right and work with them, and they just didn’t give me a great deal. That’s my own fault, but also they knew what they were doing. They took my kindness for weakness.

“They told me it was the best deal they could do, and I said, oh okay, great. And then come to find out, it wasn’t.”

When asked if he was frustrated by the revelation, Miocic responded that “of course” he was. He repeated the same answer when asked if he would’ve requested to renegotiate his deal had he known Overeem’s salary beforehand.

And that's why employers don't want their employees to discuss their salaries with each other.

So he went in without an agent?
I bet thats actually common with the newer guys, since they are paid such weak wages they wouldn't be able to give anyway, but once you hit the big times, you gotta have one. I bet the UFC puts A LOT of pressure on these guys not to get one. 'Educating' them on how much they take, and bullying them into signing something right away or the opportunity will be gone. This is exactly why unions are important. These boners are just too scared to ruffle the feathers and ask for more.

He has an agent. Maybe he didn't when he got his last contract, although you re-negotiate if you win a title, right? So guessing he did.

Can't really fault him though, with the renegotiation he still got a hefty raise from what he was being paid previously.
Went from 65k + 65k win bonus to 600k flat + PPV points.

Overeem getting 800k is one of those anomaly contracts like Hendos, where they secured it at the height of dominance.. or in Reem's case, the time he was juiced to the gills.

Overeem has the history, achievements, and name to command way more than 125% of Stipe, belt or not. I understand why Stipe would not think so but regardless.

Take a look at the names, MMA and kickboxing both:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alistair_Overeem

WTF? It's insane. Aerts, Badr Hari, Saki...to Vovchanchyn, Nog, Mirko, Belfort, Liddell, Lesnar, Mir, Werdum... the list of names is topped by perhaps no one in fight sports.

He's somehow both journeyman and champion, he's been around for so God damn long.

Overeem probably brought at least as much if not more to the table in terms of PPV buys. That said, wasn't the gate huge for that event in Cleveland? They could go back to Cleveland with Stipe anytime and sell out arenas.

The guys who came in from Strikeforce normally had better contracts. Though I don't know how much that had to do with it in Reem's case since he got Lesnar for his first UFC fight.

That's a solid fight. Both have the grappling to neutralise the other's grappling and both have power to put each other out. Also both guys are roughly the same height and length. These are two guys who desperately need to get back in the win column. I don't know what their contract status' are but I'd be willing to bet if they were both eligible to be cut, then this may be a loser leaves town type of bout.

Why is it that Bisping can't fight until May at the earliest (would be 7+ months off) and he remains champion but Conor won his belt two months ago and they are doing an interim title?
