A couple weeks back, you didn't know who Gavin McGinnis was either. What cultural world are you living in?

Im definitely not big on pop culture. I don't watch T.V. or movies really, I don't listen to radio (unless podcasts count). I don't do twitter at all. Barely even watch sports anymore including MMA unless it's a big PPV.

Is this where we post random thoughts? lol..

Idk if it's an unpopular take, but I was always on-board with the UFC taking away the Male Flyweight division, you cannot name me one single fighter in that division that makes 125 comfortably. No grown, athlete makes that weight comfortably. I don't care if boxing weight classes go lower for the males, none of that is natural. Deiveson missing weight , Cejudo moving up, no Mighty Mouse...the division is still really thin, there are no fresh match-ups...

You should also do away with Female Featherweight, that division really sucks. Now that Cyborg has left there is no reason to try and build it anymore, even fighters like Megan Anderson and Felicia Spencer don't bring any value. UFC should just let Bellator do away with both divisions, I really don't think it's much of a loss.

The Flyweight title fights bring no extra viewership.... no one even cares about this card tbh.

10% of U.S. men 18-24 are under 134 lbs, 10% of U.S. men 25-29 are under 138 (at the edge of California's weight cutting recommendation). Presumably there's a higher percentage of lighter people world wide, given Asians tend to be a bit shorter. And sure, generally speaking non-athletes might not have the needed muscle mass but they also have the low body fat of lower weight class UFC fighters. The talent poll is there, though yes fans have never gotten behind them.

And not a single one of them has a comfortable weight cut to 125, or at least the ones who bring value. If the talent is there, there’s certainly not enough flyweights to make each major mma organization have a respectable division worth keeping.

Flyweights at the very least should be 130 division, makes their weight cut easier. But even then I just don’t buy the whole “the talent pool is there”... shorty Torres was supposed to be the next big thing in that division and ufc barely gave him a chance. If you’re not going to give someone with his potential any opportunity, then you might as well do away with the division entirely and have these guys just got to ONE, where they’re a much bigger draw. And if they want to keep it local, have Bellator do with the flyweights because this doesn’t belong in the ufc anymore.

If the UFC doesn't care for the division they probably shouldn't have it, but that doesn't mean the talent isn't there. Not a deep on like LW/WW but enough to have a division if you are basing it on the percent of the population that could do a routine weight cut and make 125. College wrestling has a 125 division and they barely weight cut anymore.

Is the talent really there though? Are you watching any Sergio Pettis fights now that he’s gone to bellator? I barely even watch Mighty Mouse anymore, and I guarantee no one is waking up early to catch him in another time zone...

You can have every single flyweight in one company and you still don’t have enough potential stars/draws to make the division worthwhile.

The ufc is going to be struggling so hard to have any fresh match up amongst contenders after this.

I’m still not convinced entirely on the weight cutting but fair enough to your points about college wrestling, I hope to see that translate more to mma.

I’m not saying these guys aren’t ufc calibre, just that they belong in the BW Division, since I haven’t seen one true flyweight that makes me think we should have this division in the first place.

Even with 145 you had a case with cyborg to build a division around here since she really can’t fight at 135.

I mean athletic/fighting talent. If you mean marketability, then no, that doesn't seem to be there.

I mean both tbh... marketability is always going to be an issue for the flyweights, but let’s talk strictly talent, do you really see a legit champion who can have a solid reign? I’ve been so underwhelmed with any of these fighters. They hyped Kai Kara France like he will be the next star and he hasn’t had a breakout performance at all. Even had a robbery decision victory against Puiva.

I’m not even sure if this is Joey B in his prime either, but a peak Benavidez was definitely championship calibre, but he’s on his last legs of his career so what are we really left to look forward to?

Do you have a potential flyweight matchup that you would be intrigued by? Because I really can’t think of one.

Ufc really needs to sign my man shorty Torres again and give him the fair shake he Deserves lol. This will rectify everything with me haha

I can't remember if I already posted this, but Darren Till is starting to grow on me despite him being a bit of a degenerate. Last week on Ariel's show, Ariel asked him about someone accusing him of ducking fights or something similar. And in his British accent, Till was like (paraphrase):

'Ariel you know me and you know that I'll fight anyone anytime anywhere...except Yoel.'

I liked the costumes and props from the Pride days. Saku with his mask and costumes and Overeem with his demolition man hammer was pretty cool

Wilder's costume was kinda dumb

Of course Ricardo Lamas is the guy to step up and fight Ryan Hall. 5 rounds with Prime Aldo, 5 rounds with just-about-Prime Max, hard luck against cheater Emmett, etc.

I guess they want to retire 125 with a champion?

I hope UFC does an Ortega vs Korean zombie fight after the beef they just had. Im a huge Korean Zombie fan and I hate Ortega, the thought of Korean Zombie going into this fight super pissed off gets me giddy, I have no doubt he would destroy Ortega!
