He's definitely experienced some racism in his life, I don't doubt what he says but to use racism as the reason for his lack of popularity is a completely different thing. People don't pay to watch MM, despite being a top P4P fighter because he's small and people don't appreciate his skills enough to relate. That's a legitimate reason.

But Woodley has to give an example where he's personally being discriminated against because of his his skin colour and that's the reason he's been barred him from increasing his popularity. To me, his lack of popularity has more to do with his lack of personality than anything. His trash talk is weak, his whole personality isn't very interesting and he's been fighting since 09 and has never really been consistently exciting as a fighter.

You can't just suddenly have a personality after so many years in the game without one, just because you're a champ now.

He does have a personality, a really deliberating, careful, conscientious one. Probably not unlike GSP. He very deliberately got to the top with the most minimum effort.

I find it weird people focus on him being athletic. When I think of athleticism I think of some sort of inscrutable speed & agility. Travis Browne, Jon Jones, Dodson. Woodley's is scrutable. He has bar none the most ridiculous physique in MMA. Certainly post-USADA. He can spring forward like no one else because he has the lower body of no one else. That's muscle as much as athleticism. Splitting hairs?

Joe Rogan always uses him as an example of an athletic freak. I don't hear people harp on it otherwise.

And I agree that he does have personality, for sure. The dude is also super calculating. I don't think he does anything without deliberation. The problem for him is that he's just kind of a wet blanket.

Anyone who reads my posts knows I'm not a Yoel Romero fan, but him starting a gofundme to take care of Bisping's medical expenses after they fight is hilarious. "He will need this money to rebuild his life, he has a family and I am deeply concerned for him."

LOL.

MMAHour listen: Bisping does not sound like he wants to fight Romero. Says he's not sure that's the fight. Ariel had dropped earlier in the show that he heard May for Bisping/Romero and Bisping said he has never heard that. Says he's still limping around from his surgery. Says Romero is still benefitting from roids.

Threadworthy. Added it to a previous thread.

Renato on MMARoasted as a regular co-host these days. Amazing stuff. LOL! Entertaining himself half the time, the rest of those half-wits have no idea what's going.

Josh Barnett co-hosted an ep with Renato and the regulars. I don't like Barnett but he's at least a smart enough guy to actually run with Renato. It was entertaining. Everyone else just receded.

Never heard of Crowder before but man did Joe come off as a huge a-hole when debating the weed issue. I get Joe is passionate about it and I'm sure there are friends but for sure don't call the guy a ***k or tell the other guy not to speak over him when he's doing that to Crowder. Even if Joe was 100% right and Crowder is 100% wrong that's not how you debate someone.

The thing is, it's not really a debate podcast. It's a discussion podcast. No one is gonna drink and smoke for two hours while engaging in a serious debate show. Crowder got caught using skewed data and got really defensive; Joe was drunk and offended so he went bully mode. I thought Crowder looked like a baby whining about the information checks and Joe just should have shut up and moved on. If the guest comes in and treats it as a fun chat, that becomes a ball busting back and forth, but Crowder tried to plug his site and once Joe came after him it became an integrity attack to both of 'em. I enjoyed the chaos to be honest

To add something to this thread, I've read that Browne won't have Edmond in his corner for the fight this weekend...I can only hope this is the start of dude getting back on track (still rooting for Lewis though).

I listen to these podcasts in 1.5 speed so originally I missed all the name calling by Joe. I thought the guy was just kind of a crybaby with the "you're bullying me!" stuff, but if Joe was calling him all those names then yea Joe is absolutely a bully.

So Bagautinov, Makovsky and Horiguchi all FA's...Idk how they plan on keeping that division without anyone close to Johnson in the mix. I really like Horiguchi, he has a style that could make him popular and a TON of growth even just since his title fight (his wrestling and clinch work with Bagautinov was great). I'd hate to see him walk to Rizin without getting to fight Benavidez and rematch Demetrius.
