Reigning champ, 4 consecutive years, who, if you didn't read the other MMA thread, Bellator is closing in on signing.

Dana confirmed the next season of TUF will be taped rather than live.
It'll still be on Fridays.

Didn't watch one second of either TUF this year.
Friday night is the time for women, cheer, and booze, not time to watch fights.
They need to make it Wed again, or I'll skip another season.

I think Ariel said the issue is that fx wants Friday programming, so they use ufc for that. Wish they'd just do an unleashed show or some knockoff of that instead of all this live stuff.

Want a reminder as to how terrible Zuffa is?
Fighter's earnings for UFC on FX came out... Ian McCall made $9K to show. As a headliner. In a title eliminator.
Justify that, Zuffa zombies. (I don't think any are here).

I'm no Zuffa zombie, but he did agree to the contract. I'm sure that if Zuffa could pay GSP, Silva, and JDS one penny per fight they would...

He did, but what are his options otherwise?
My point is that someone who can rightfully call themselves top 5 in the world, even in a thin division, should not have to settle for being lowballed (and Zuffa should be called out on it).

That actually constitutes a pay raise for him. He got 6K to show at the last event. What's even crazier is that Mighty Mouse got the same. That was his 7th fight for Zuffa and he previously fought for the bantamweight title. Thankfully they won the fight of the night bonus on said card. Can you and your family really depend on the discretion of Dana White and the luck factor involved in that type of compensation though? Maldanado and Pokrajac kill each other at that last Fuel event and they lose out to one of the great fights of all time IMO in KZ-Poirer.

It's a prevalent attitude across the MMA community. This board isn't immune from it.

One FC is about the only one, and that wasn't an option at the time.
Bellator of course doesn't have a flyweight division.
As a result I think anyone who fights at flyweight and doesn't absolutely have to because of their walk around weight, has made a poor business decision. That said, doesn't mean Zuffa should take full advantage of the leverage they have just because they can, and they have the leverage in part because they bought up a number of companies who could have potentially featured a flyweight division.

Damn...I was just thinking things were looking up for fighters when I saw a recent event where every fighter got at least $10,000.
I bet the sponsorship money for a UFC main event on FX is a little better than Tachi Palace Fights though.

Well, McCall does have a big following. Anyone know how much he makes in endorsements? I'm sure that MM makes a good bit of money off of XBOX.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Sponsorships are nothing out of Zuffa's pocket though, and the own fighter's entrepreneurship. Still, Zuffa take a huge cut of that as well, once again because they can. If anything, this is another cause for criticism of Zuffa's greediness.

The guys on Fuel must get next to nothing for sponsorship money.

To be fair there were guys on the undercard who made 8k, so it was less a case of guys being underpaid and more a case of McCall himself being horrifically underpaid.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
You guys blame Zuffa for being greedy, but I blame McCall and his agent for negotiating poorly. If you could substantially underpay your lawyer, landlord, and auto-mechanic, wouldn't you? I hope that Creepy makes more in his next fight, but I have to give Zuffa props for some great negotiating.

Those are some very poor analogies. Your lawyer, landlord, and auto-mechanic don't depend on you to make a living. Also, their service doesn't involve an activity that decreases their ability to do that and other services for financial compensation in the future, as well as decrease the quality of their life. I'm very concerned by this attitude of contact sport fans.
You also ignored the point brought up multiple times earlier in the thread about how Zuffa manipulated the market through buying out promotions so fighters have less or next to no leverage in the case of flyweights. Great negotiating has little to do with amount Creepy and Mighty Mouse make.
And what's with this notion that there should be a completely adversarial relationship between employee and employer. The sole role of business isn't to make as much money for the owners as possible. Ensuring others of value in the company live a comfortable lifestyle, and benefiting rather than harming society overall should be among the goals of a successful business as well.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
I can just picture Dana putting on his best trollface as he jots something down on an index card and slides it across the table to McCall's people. It says 6/6, with two blank checkboxes, one saying YES, the other saying LOL MFC NEEDS 135ers.
