Teo asking if he still has it....he shouldn't fight Haney anytime soon...he needs a C+ level tune up fight to get some confidence back or else it'd be a bloodbath.

Give Barboza Jr that fight. He wants it. Teo probably has enough time for one more fight before he can enforce his shot at the Prograis vs. Ramirez winner. Both have the same promotional company. Makes sense.

Man, Roy Jones Jr. as your coach??? Was that just to spite his dad??

It's even more hilarious because he got caught on the ropes, acted complacent, and got badly KOd. The RJJ special.

Also, that lead hand game was gonna get him caught anyways. Smith was coming close with the cross over the jab.

It's truly too bad given the homophobia. Smith needs to stop defending his comments as innocent in intent, and make a full bore acknowledgement of what this does to young men who want to be out/closeted and participate in the sport. Expecting that you're going to have insinuations thrown at you is going to push gay dudes away from the sport (as competitors and fans).

Plant vs Benevidez official for March. Plant showing a lot of self-belief and courage.

Once Beterbiev wins this weekend, hopefully the Bivol fight can be made for this summer.

Fulton vs Innoue, Garcia vs Tank, Usyk vs Fury all seem likely. Plus, Haney has proven himself ambitious and might take on Loma (at a minimum).

That's a bunch of the top 15 boxers fighting one another.

Notably, these are all people outside of the 147-160 divisions, which have stalled out with nonsense.

No way Paul goes out on an L. There's gonna be a rematch for sure, with probably fairer terms for Fury.

He had a rematch clause.

Jake is just a boring fighter to watch. He's a supposed power puncher that only hits hard with a big telegraphed overhand, and he looks tired at the end of 4-5 rounds despite never actually being pressed or having any sort of real volume.

His best bet is to go into MMA and wrestle down retired boxers or something. I guess the Saudis might keep paying for this garbage lol.

Stiff Jab, overhand right, horrific movement, I can see why he can overwhelm guys who are smaller, But you finally saw a dude who at least had some experience in boxing that he's not that great.I dont think that was really a question though

I think the bigger problem than he isn't great is that he's just not entertaining. He dropped a bomb on Woodley and Askren, but everything outside of that has been snoozefests and boos.

I think the lack of entertaining style comes from the fact he's so uncomfortable in defensive movement. So he has to keep the fight to just this single dimension of lurching jabs or long right hand, or clinching. If he's not coming in from a huge distance, he's holding. That middle-range is utterly terrifying to him. You can see it in how he backs out, favoring a crouch and ear muffs over angles and pivots. That's the panic of a rank novice. And that panic is also why his fights are so repetitive.

He's just not going to turn that around in a matter of months or years. That's a long-term project, that requires some easy fights.

To his credit, one of the reasons he hasn't been able to develop defense is because he's been taking on guys with KO power from day 1 (minus Askren). Where, everyone else has 20 fights facing undernourished dudes with string bean arms from the developing world.

We have a serious fight this weekend. Maybe the biggest of the year, definitely the biggest of the year in terms of styles and psychodrama.

Benevidez is a such a merciless destroyer. TBH, I have barely watched him fight because it's just too violent. I don't want to see some poor dude from a developing country get smashed liked that for 50-100K. But now he clearly has a well-matched opponent, nevermind one who is really tactical and skilled, and might be able to actually evade the pressure.

Plus, Plant's (apparent...) self-belief and determination is like no other.

Amazing stuff.

An amazing, forever-memorable fight. The contrast of styles and strategies was just awesome. The fact that Plant knew his only concern would have to be lasting from 8th round+, and he still got broken down is amazing. That would be the result any time these two met.

I hate this 'we settled it like men' **** so much. You both have children, and Plant will forever be altered by the beating he took in those last 4-5 rounds. There's nothing manly about giving up life and cogency to settle some disagreement over who is better at a sport.

Benevidez - Canelo would be a ridiculous fight. And it will forever taint Canelo's legacy if he doesn't get that off the ground. We know Benevidez is not going to tank the negotiation over money or nonsense. He let Plant have a 22 inch ring and whatever else he wanted. The only impediment is Canelo.

Damn, more evidence of the 'downfall of boxing' (you guys heard about this UFC?). Teofimo vs. Taylor, Haney vs Loma.

Davis is mean as hell and a good, patient boxer. I favor him by a lot, gotta say.

I have barely watched either guy fight, though, as I hate watching mismatches...and they have mostly been cruising on them.

Where does Davis punching power(pound4pound) stack up all time? Every time I've watched him, it looks ferocious for a dude that size. So crisp, fast, and explosive. How many weight classes is he punching up, so to speak?

I don't think Davis's punching power is that spectacular. The only decent guy that Davis knocked out cold was Leo Santa Cruz, who's a much smaller man than Davis. Leo Santa Cruz started his career at 115, hit his peak at 122, and fought Gervonta Davis at 130, where Cruz got knocked out cold. Outside of Cruz, Davis have knocked out bigger opponents but it wasn't in spectacular fashion.

I actually think just on power alone, Ryan Garcia has more power. Davis' advantage is on skill and boxing IQ and experience.
