Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
I love Poirier so I'm quite happy to see him making a run. Would love to see him get a title shot.

Keep talking out your ass about USADA. Apparently no fighter can have declined around that time, in a damage sport, where he'd sustained multiple serious leg + arm injuries, and did take that merciless beatdown, for a fight when there was no out of competition testing. Haven't explained that. That didn't look like his previous self either.
And are ignoring how this fight was even lost. Lost by fluke injury in a back and forth affair against a contender, like that's some great shame.
The injuries are true but u completely dismissing the possibility of a Usada related decline is just bias.
It was back and forth but Dustin was having most of the success. Anthonys triangle attempts all failed. Dustin landed the better Gnp, he landed the harder strikes standing. Unfortunately Duke doesnt have a bunch of active fighters like other camps to compare. Woodley is the most prominent now but he doesnt do most of his training with Duke. Koch and Ben barely fight. Sergio is still young.
and Anthony was looking about done. Even if the rib injury didnt happen Dustin had just passed to mount. I dont think anyone even mounted Anthony before his sweeps and rotations wouldnt have helped him there
and Dustin is not a contender hes an action fighter. Top 10 guy at best. Hes nowhere near the elites like Tony, Khabib, Conor, Michael, Gaethje and Edson. And he got KTFO by 2 of those dudes tho one was @ 145
Yeah he had a back and forth with Eddie who just lost his title but in reality everyone knew Eddie was an upset champion like Bisping and nowhere really the best in the division. He looked terrible in the fights leading up to Rda fight (Cowboy, Gilbert, Pettis) just like Bisping did going into Luke (Luke 1, Leites, Anderson)

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Also Pettis hasnt physically adjusted to the changes in Mma either. Weightcutting is insane these days
i dont know how his strength and conditioning is but i doubt its a good program. I think in a countdown he was just doing barbells and dumbells..........his lower core has never been strong.
Physically he doesnt seem any stronger than he was in Wec which is sad. He has always had good fundamentals and technique for takedown defense and defensive wrestling but hes just too physically weak to offer more resistance. He relies too much on technique/slickness he has to get stronger

Bro. That was an all-time terrible stoppage.

Umm..Dustin seems like a real douche. Ran over to Shelby all angry, demanding money and opponents. LOL, didn't even remember to thank the troops in his post-fight.

I came to say something snarky about USADA Pettis, but y'all already were going so hard at Anthony, I had to pull back.

The real question is whether Pettis is the biggest USADA cheat of all time.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
You guys can speculate/bait with the usada stuff all day. Pettis issues are technical deficiencies and have been for a long time. When guys pressure him he gets backed into the fence without properly circling out and eats big shots - see the end of the first round last night, dating all the way back to his pre-usada fight with RDA when he ate that giant right - both left his eye a mess.
More specifically regarding last night, triangles are not something that can be just toughed out of like an armbar. Properly applied, the opponent goes to sleep. If Pettis had an hour long private with Ryan Hall prior to that fight, Dustin is sleeping in the middle of the cage. I don't care about the blood.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Between no points being taken away from Moraes for all the fouls, to the terrible Lauzon stoppage, to the ref stopping the main event with Pettis having a fully locked in triangle and restarted the fight in closed guard, the officiating was horrible. Not surprising for a commission who still hasn't adopted the updated unified rules.

Assuncao is effing class by the way. God he just doesn't have it in him to promote himself though. Shoulda been up there talking about how he beat TJ and they gotta have the trilogy, etc. Instead he said I'm not the toughest guy but I think I deserve it? Come on!

I'm so glad Diaper Boy lost, that was so disturbing and laughable, how could he show his face in his home gym ever again?

It's rare that an MMA reference is too obscure for me. Who is diaper boy?

Albini, the guy who fought Andrei^
That guy was hard-as-hell, bro. He can show up to his home gym cos the sport isn't about who has the gnarliest graphic t's and most ornate eyebrows.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Speaking of HW MMA badly needing some fresh youngbloods, it appears Tai Tuivasa can fill some of that hole. One of those Super Samoans who is anomalously athletic for his girth, super powerful, can take a shot, and learned his striking technique under the tutelage of Mark Hunt. Looks like he could be the 2.0 version.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Doesn't seem to be happening for Brooks, after he got off to that rough start in the ufc. He's relying on athleticism, flair, and desire over technique and a smart gameplan. Dove into that guillotine choke multiple times there and was trying to exit from the pocket straight back with his head up.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Where does Brooks rank on list of all time busts? I really thought he could be a contender in the UFC. Crazy to think this guy getting consistently finished my middling UFC lws was running the Bellator lw division not too long ago.
