Bute wants to make PPV money and it is impossible for him to get a PPV in Montreal. There isn't anyone at or around his weight that is a PPV worthy guy on American TV.

He could be closing in on making a million per fight in Montreal, I'd guess. With regular broadcasts and his portion of the gate (which has got to be the lion's share), he's making a lot.

The winner of the Super Six vs Bute isn't PPV worthy? Ward vs Bute?

The issue, to me, is that he's exhausted the list of opponents who are willing to give him that insane advantage of fighting him in Montreal.

I love boxing more than anyone else, but I wouldn't pay for a PPV for Bute and Ward. Showtime will have to produce it and they wouldn't invest so much into the whole tournament for it to then be a PPV fight.

It will be on regular showtime.

Really good weekend for boxing.

Friday:
David Lemieux (25-0) vs. Marco Antonio Rubio (49-5-1)

Hozumi Hasegawa (29-3) vs. Jhonny Gonzalez (47-7)

HBO on Sat:
Erik Morales (51-6) vs. Marcos Maidana (29-2)
Michael Katsidis (27-3) vs. Robert Guerrero (28-1-1)
James Kirkland (27-0) vs. Nobuhiro Ishida (22-6-2)
Paul Malignaggi (28-4) vs. Jose Cotto (32-2-1)

Tomasz Adamek (43-1) vs. Kevin McBride (35-8-1)

God damn, I do not want to see Erik Morales fight anymore. Esp against a big puncher. What is this insanity? He's going to take years off his life.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

I am thinking about waking up early to see the Hasegawa/Gonzalez fight. Gonzalez always had excellent fights, and has a very questionable chin. World class skills, power and the longest arms I know for a skinny dude, but a contenderisque chin.

Hasegawa is one of boxing hidden gems...

RIP Morales... and I think that Katsidis will overwelm Guerrero. He is just a naturally bigger guy who will break him down unless he gets stopped on cuts.

Huge upset... MAR KO'ed David Lemieux. Big blow to him because he was talking a big game and hoping to fight Martinez. He just got schooled by a savvy vet.

Gonzalez got the KO vs Hasegawa.

Credit to Morales so far. I didn't think he'd last three rounds.

Guerrero got both of us wrong. He won virtually every round.

And another huge upset with Kirkland being downed three times in the 1st by Nobuhiro Ishida.

Wanna see heart? Watch Morales right now...aged and a shut eye, he's still teaching the younger Maidana a few things. I can't believe he's winning on some of these trades.

wow. strange KO in the Gonzales vs Hasegawa fight. just a lead, sweeping overhand right. Did he reach over to parry it? He saw the punch coming the whole way, yet dropped both hands...just a huge error in reading that punch.

End of 9 for Morales and Maidana. FightOTY Candidate...I said it.

Maidana wins by Majority Decision: 114-114, 116-112, 116-112.

God Bless Morales...

There is no one I respect more than Morales. I honestly would kill to have a 15 min talk with him. There is no one else in his sport that symbolizes what boxing is about than him.

I am honored that I ordered the PPV. In some small way... I contributed to his paycheck. Quite honestly... you will never be disappointed with a Morales fight ever...

EPic upset... No offense, but a Japanese middleweight beating a black American middleweight? Impossible. God bless him. I saw the joy in his eyes... and that was the best moment of his life and without question the upset of the year. It was so quick that Kellerman had to interview him to make time. I hope that he gets some more TV time, he might not be a world class fighter but seems to genuinely be a good guy. It quite possiably be the tallest asian boxer than I have heard about... 6'2? Jeez... he is a tall mofo... Give him a fight vs Chavez.

Haswgawa is chinny and least we forget that he jumped 2 weight classes and fought a world class fighter...

Gonzalez has world class power and showed it...

Would he and Arum take that risk? I say the guy's been fighting journey fighters long enough. Put him in against some power at least.

I ordered it, but my friends and I weren't able to get to my house until the main event. I had to rely on boxing websites to get some results. Needless to say, we missed some huge upsets.

If Morales were to retire right now, I definitely would not be angry with that. This fight embodied everything about Morales and Mexican boxing. Sure, Morales is not in his prime anymore, but everyone, not only Maidana, learned a lot about him (if they didn't already know or just forgot) in this fight.

I kind of don't want to see a rematch. I think Maidana smartens up and takes him out early. Then again, Morales could surprise us all again. Honestly, do you know what fight I wouldn't mind seeing more? Morales-Marquez...and it would HAVE to be at 140.

What were the odds in that Kirkland fight??? Jeez. Would anyone on the planet have put money on Ishida anyway?

I thought Katsidis was right there most rounds. Great fight.

I'm 2 rounds into the Morales fight. I can't believe how calm he is in the face of those HUGE right hands being thrown by Maidana. Maidana physically just jumped into a right like he was spiking a football.
