There's a reason he wasn't talking all this crap 2-3 years ago. Now all the sudden he "hates Brazilians" despite training at ATT etc and coming in contact with probably dozens of brazilians as a fighter. It's all bs dude, it's so ridiculously transparent.

The lines of schtick and real life scumbag are getting really blurred with him though. He's not Chael or Conor.

His buddy Masvidal got into it with Bisping two weeks ago.

Colby can't be racist, he had Masvidal in his house!

Was him using the f word a schtick?

This isn't to sell a fight, it's with a random fighter outside of his weight division.

That video was bad form. I think he'll regret that, adrenaline pumping after the Werdum confrontation. Not a good luck at all, using EITHER f word for that matter.

Reason why I say regret is because I feel like it was all wwe before this. That was real, coming on the heels of a very emotionally charged situation but still. Not a good look.

Check out 52 minutes.

Colby's just as fake as Jon (you're calling him out on it too). But yeah, talking about getting into fights in college. Calling Jon a good dude, somebody he was close with.

I'm not sure I understand the point of your post. At first I thought you were saying I was arguing Colby isn't fake in which case I was going to block you because Colby being fake is one of my main points lol.

I was just interested in the Colby/Jones relationship. Not arguing with ya here, just bringing more info to light.

It's kind of a sad thing. I actually had to go back and confirm that it was Colby who was Jones roommate after I saw Colby attack Jones for something on Twitter a week or two back. I never knew there was bad blood, and if there's not and it's just happened for promotional purposes then that is even worse. Although Jones said they hadn't talked in 11 years so couldn't have been that close I guess.

I think you're both agreeing that this wasn't just schtick for Colby. Or he's now lost the ability to distinguish or something, cos those comments directed at Brazilians as he walks away from the Werdum conversation weren't deliberate or contrived, he was pissed and they were meant with anger.

Also, screw his attack of Jones. He was on MMARoasted a couple years ago, a) talking neutrally, at worst, about Jones, b) telling stories about how they would basically lure "townies" into fights and **** them up - Jones, himself, and another wrestler now in MMA.

Strangely enough, came across like a meathead.

So some guy in LFA almost died from kidney failure and other things, likely with the weight cut being a big factor in causing it.

As of now, no takers for UFC’s new media right deal

The Sports Business Journal reports the UFC’s current state of negotiating a new media rights package once its deal with FOX is up. Currently, the new asking price of $450M per year is a stiff increase that is not garnering a lot of interest at this point.

The current deal with FOX is worth $120 million per year (with it jumping to $160 million for the last year) for the 7 year deal which ends at the end of 2018. The UFC is looking to increase its rights fee to $450 million per year. Traditional media companies appear to be weary of the hefty ask.

The article notes that it has had meetings with online companies Amazon and Oath. There has been speculation that the next media rights deal could include a digital only platform which would be unprecedented.

SBJ notes that with the WWE’s media rights deal coming up in the fall of 2019, the market and bargaining leverage might be hindered for the UFC. WWE has met with Fox earlier this summer as part of the pro wrestling company’s road show with various networks “to show the power of its programming.” The WWE’s deal with NBC in 2017 is estimated at $180 million.

I'm pretty sure the sports TV rights bubble is about to burst. Not good timing for the UFC.

Part of it is the general sports TV rights bubble, as a lot of people would rather watch Netflix than sports.

However, a lot of this is on the UFC. They promoted a boxing match more than they did UFC matches. The UFC match they promoted the most had a steroid abuser brain bash an Olympian. They watered down their product. They had way too many rematches. They screwed their fighters over with the Reebok deal. They lost some fighters to Bellator.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm guessing the $450 won't happen and the true goal is $400. Also guessing the $400 is for EXCLUSIVE rights. So if they could split up the programming and somehow get $200 apiece across two networks/platforms then that could be another way to get what they want.

I've said from the beginning that I think Amazon makes the most sense. They have already started streaming the NFL and are spending money like crazy on content. Considering they are talking about launching a free, with commercials version of Prime, they seem like the perfect partners. The UFC would drive an entirely new fan base to that platform, one that doesn't have an alternative on Netflix or Hulu. I don't think any of the cable networks can offer close to what an Amazon can, and truthfully, they need the UFC a lot less.
