This is dumber than asking if a random 6'6" guy off the street who doesn't know anything about basketball would beat Earl Boykins in a 1-on-1 game.

Read the quotes and check out the clip and then imagine Zion who is similar in height to The Mountain and much, much quicker with more endurance. A supreme athlete in comparison.
You realize this is an absolute turrrible comparison right?
Zion is 6’6 and Thor is 6’9, no they’re not similar in height. That’s like me saying Kobe is basically Durants height.
Second of all Zion is 285 lbs, Thor is 452 lbs! He’s heavier by one whole Conor McGregor.
Last and definitely not least, Thor is literally one of the strongest men in the world and was THE strongest man not too long ago. Zion is quicker, but in terms of strength, Thor is on another stratosphere from Zion. No chance Conor would even attempt to grapple with Thor when he’s almost 3x Conors weight and has unmatched strength. Kicks would be a little less effective on Thor considering he has tree stump legs and at best Conor can hope to punch his body when he’s giving up a foot difference in height.

McGregor could probably beat him any way he wanted. This is like asking whether Kyle Lowry could beat some random 7 footer who only played basketball in high school.
Also, McGregor is an all-time great counter puncher in MMA. The reach discrepancy wouldn't mean as much to him as it would with other fighters

A trained fighter will win the majority of showdowns with non prize fighters even with large size differences. There are plenty of videos on the net of random smaller guys beating up much larger people than themselves, and those are just average joes.
Too many of you get caught up on height and weight, yes weight classes exist for a reason but that's within the realm of people who are trained. But, even then you still have instances where a much larger man gets beaten by a smaller opponent, especially in the heavyweight division where there is no cap on limits, for example here's a 7'0" 316lbs boxer getting rocked by a 6'3" 217lbs boxer, the smaller man won the fight too.

That's a similar size disparity between Connor who walks around at 175 and Zion, except Zion doesn't know how to fight while Connor can grapple or strike. I'd take Connor over anyone in the NBA, the only one with any chance would be maybe James Johnson since he does have some fights under his belt and trained in a marital art, that's where the size difference would help, in that a much less skilled opponent is much larger, but still has skill.

I've seen videos of poorly trained (amateur level), very tall fighters getting destroyed by much smaller ones (real fighters). So without hesitation I believe it's a bloodbath in favor of McGregor.

McGregor downs him with ease. What good is all that size and muscle if you haven’t been trained to fight or even to take punches?

He's a great fighter but come on, Zion would just yoke him up and toss him around like a baby. He probably benches 180 with one arm. This isnt even a fair fight.

This. LOL at people comparing Zion to Thor who is the strongest man in the world, has 2x as muscle and is 3 inches taller. Thor is also a 100 times more resistant to pain since the amount of lactic acid he can withstand in his competitions is insane.

If you're talking about multiple NBA players Vs Conor, then yea. otherwise, Zion would never be in any position to just stomp Conor's head on the ground. Stomps and soccer kick finishes weren't THAT common even when they were legal in Pride, and that was guys training to do them.
Like I said, go watch how much trouble NBA players have landing punches on each other.... or how easy someone Nate Robinson's size double legged guys in NBA brawls.

An average person, Zion wins 10/10 times. Even a decent fighter, Zion probably wins. A professional fighter that has submission training and whatever else is probably going to beat someone who does not fight professionally every time barring some major stroke of luck like a wild swing that connects.
It's not an MMA/Kickboxing fight... why would you assume it would be?
Zion is rushing at Conor and throwing him on the ground... This all happens in mere seconds... Probably the only counter McGregor has against this is just knocking Zion out before he grabs him. It's possible, since McGregor knows exactly how to take advantage of these types of split second windows... but i also wouldn't assume it as automatic... And like i said eariler, it's harder to knock out taller guys than yourself because it's harder to reach their head.
So do you think that a professionally trained fighter just forgets everything because it’s a street fight? Did you consider that maybe the lack of rules also helps CM in that situation?

The worst fighter in Mcgregors gym would work the savage **** out of Zion Williamson in a street fight.

Re: Back Alley brawl: Zion vs McGregor who wins?
Look at the link below at Mariuz Pudzianowski, the 5-time world strongman champion. At his largest he was 6'1", 310 pounds. In his late thirties he started to train and MMA though he had never fought before. He had to drop 40 pounds to fight despite him always training for cardio during his strongman run. His record is 13-7, mostly against average fighters. He did knock out one of the Gracies in about a minute with a powerful overhead right.
Now look at Zion. No fighting experience. Nowhere near the muscle definition of Mariuz, for all you guys into muscles. Strength, not even in the same stadium. Pudzianowski is a living strongman legend. If a guy like Pudzianowski, with his strength and (limited to start) fight training had a hard time, how does anyone think no-experience Zion has a good chance to beat MacGregor?

This has already been done. Back in 2010, 170 lb UFC fighter Roger Huerta ended up in a street fight with a 240 lb starting linebacker for the University of Texas that had just sucker-punched a girl. Huerta literally almost killed the guy in under 10 seconds

Basketball and MMA are literally the only 2 sports I follow, I've been watching basketball for 20 years, MMA for 16, and I've also trained MMA as well as played BBall, so I feel like I have an idea of what I'm talking about.
A lot of it comes down to Zion. His natural fighting instincts, if he can take a punch or not, if he's scared of a confrontation or not, if **** talk gets him nervous and gives him an adrenaline dump or not. If he's at least above average in those categories, he has a chance. Conor McGregor is not a guy who has a skill set that translates to fighting bigger guys, who are usually more durable. You saw it in the Nate Diaz fight, he got tired just from hitting the guy over and over. Conor is an explosive power puncher who doesn't have the greatest cardio, he also isn't much of a grappler, a guy like Khabib or Tony Ferguson would be more likely to choke out Zion than McGregor would be to knock him out. Conor could very well get tired and Zion could wind up landing a lucky punch or ragdolling McGregor in the clinch. It would all boil down to if Zion can take a punch, if he can stay composed, and if he has any natural fighting instincts.

Anyone who thinks Zion has a prayer needs to get their head examined or just stop talking about combat sports for the rest of their lives.

Seriously. I’m about 5’10 - 5’11 200lbs, built similarly to Eric Bledsoe (PM for proof if you don’t believe me) and I’ve trained in boxing & jujitsu.
I know some of you who are 6’0+ think you could beat ppl up simply because you’re taller than them. I assure you that is not the case. Go to any of your local combat sport gyms & those 5’5 - 5’8 dudes will work the f-ck outta you.
If you’ve done these sports extensively, you understand how the human body is shaped. Taller people simply have longer legs/longer torso/longer limbs but just because you have it doesn’t mean it actually applies to anything.
Having strength & size are cool but try getting kicked in your thigh a few times. Or punched in the ribs. Then guess what? Next time you try to block that body shot, you just brought your face down to eye level for an easy hit from the shorter guy.

Yeah, except the 6"6 guy is world class athlete and 270 lbs. So he's got size, reach...basically every advantage.
