Oof. Beautiful stuff from Bob and Cyril.

The unfortunate side effect is that will now never see Jon Jones in the octagon again. He will double his insta power lifting posts but there's no way he wants to have to fight a combination of Francis and Cyril.

The HW division looked a lot different when it was Francis, Stipe, and DC. There was only one person Jon needed to focus on beating, and he could potentially have done it. But now a move to HW means having to both withstand Francis' power and to withstand Cyril's length and precision. He doesn't want that.

It’s crazy how the UFC will protect some guys forever with favorable matchups, but they’ll do someone like Tuivasa dirty by feeding him to a monster who is also a ridiculously bad matchup for him.

What does that win even do for Cyril that beating anyone else wouldn’t have? It would have done a ton for Tai for sure, but come on.

Edit: also, I don’t believe in protecting contenders from each other.

Jon is 35, he barely beat Dom Reyes and Thiago Santos. Reyes hasn't won a fight since and Reyes is 1-4 with his only win being over Johnny Walker (who's also on his own 1-4 streak).

Jon is/was an athletic marvel in his prime but he's lived some hard years and look at other sports - nobody that relies on their freak physical abilities is sustaining their peak well into their mid 30s.

GSP came back at 35-36 to go beat Bisping. Bisping is 2 years older than GSP and was already 10 years into a grueling up and down UFC career. Gane and Francis are at their absolute peak right now whereas Bisping snuck into his title shot, beat a cocky Luke Rockhold and snuck by a mid 40s Dan Henderson in his only defense + GSP lives like a monk compared to Jones.

Jon was the greatest of all time, he's not that dude anymore. Father time is undefeated and there's always going to be another lion to come get ya.

Gane is their HW king when Francis walks away + that was their debut in France. Their response for him was unreal.

Tai's appeal is akin to Derrick Lewis' - no matter the blemishes, he's going to get eyeballs and love from the fans until he can't no more. Last night did nothing to hurt his stock.

You need to watch Gregory Rodrigues and Njokuani from this weekend. Unbelievable that such a destroyer just flat-out gave up. That dude had previously announced, "anyone can get it", and seemed to be super high on himself. Then, [the winner] just wouldn't go away and had him turtle and all-but-submit to strikes. !!!

Ufc is so lame. Still no crowds and now they’re renting out to zuckburger and not allowing friends and family of fighters and media.

Such a weird dictatorship. Imagine this nonsense in other sports

I didn't get to catch the Dern / Xiaonan card, was it televised in any way or completely dark due to Marky Z (**** him) for buying the whole arena?

Guys, he didn't rent out the arena. It was just the case that only he and his friends and family were allowed to attend. lol

Not much interesting happening this week with the fights. I don't think I can catch it but want to see that japanese dude Tatsuro Taira continue his unbeaten streak.

UFC 280 around the corner though and that's one I'll be tuning in for.

Anyone hear that Volk will be a LW replacement incase Oliveira or Makachev have problems making weight. Volk will also have an official weign in, and says he will be in Dubai anyway.

Askarov missed weight and refused a catchweight bout. Seems silly for a guy in the title picture.

Shame, was by far the best fight on the card.

Semi related but royval seems like a legitimately great dude.

He been saying he’s doing it since his last fight, even with a busted hand. Pretty cool for the P4P number 1 guy to be so willing to be a backup. Was 100% his idea bu the sound of it.

Best part is Ali been talking **** this whole time saying Charles won’t show up and beneil will fight islam and beneil was never in the picture.

F*cking Figures I'm busy & I totally forget about the card & there's bunch of exciting finishes/submissions/ko/tko.

Well turning it on now, hope main card is good. Have the Leafs vs Kings NHL on as well & then will be gaming soon Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak grinding some MR & Mats/weapons/armor/decos.

Some shady stuff went on last night:

Read on Twitter

Minner is a James Krause fighter - Krause runs a discord channel where he charges $50/month for betting tips, Minner hurt his knee in the first minute and was KOd pretty rapidly afterwards. Either he took a dive or went into that fight compromised.

Askarov is now released from contract due to health issues, this must be why he refused a catchweight, something going on with him.
