Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Yeah way to many sports on tonight/today for me I was/intended to make one but just now after 11 pm EST is just only the UFC on.
And been gaming with my peeps since 8 pm est as well. Raptors lost by 2, Chiefs won by 7 sadly & Eagles crushed the Giants.
Oh & Leafs lost in OT to the f*cking Habs. decent fights so far anyways. Hope these last 3 fights are bangers.
Lots of finishes tonight as well

Unfortunate end for that fight between Moreno & Figgy.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Why are Glover & Hill fighting for the Light Heavyweight belt? Didn't someone else just win it recently?
I'm confused/can't remember.

I don't think it's the board, the quality of the UFC is degrading quickly.
The product is watered down and crap.

I remember the top 6 or so players (including me) clearly using a slightly modified money line ranking...
I said awhile back I was a casual and if anything I'm less than a casual now. People's interests change over time, it's only natural. I do find a little odd though that there hasn't been more new posters on this subforum when people will discuss UFC events on the general forum.

Ok, but that's more of an explanation for my statement than a point against.

Anyone got a website I can rewatch the main card from yesterday on? Please and thank you.
As for the quality of the cards… Look at the Aussie card coming up. I paid so much for that **** and it’s trash as. Frustrating

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
I wondered whether Hill was the worst UFC champion in modern history, but expected to find that there were others more deserving (of the title of the worst). So I Googled it. No, he is the worst (aside from WMMA), there is no one even close to as terribly skilled and talentless as him. There's, like, Forrest Griffin and Matt Serra. They're the closest. But Serra at least has skills in BJJ, and Griffin is technically on point, he's just not gifted athletically. There is no one as sloppy as Hill. Those uppercuts where his chin comes up, LOL. And that belly and fat ass. LOL. What a terrible fighter.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Damn, Gilbert Burns is an assassin. What a division 170 is, man. Burns is so **** talented, and yet might not even be top 5.
155 and 170, this is where the real talent is.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
I thought Hill's defensive wrestling and his ability from the bottom both looked a LOT better than I thought it would. His patience when throwing and his ability to both keep himself safe and get back to his feet from bottom will serve him well, compared to a lot of these guys that come in as just sluggers.
He definitely needs to clean up his diet. His stomach looks exactly like mine, and I eat whatever I want and I train, but I don't train for a living, and I work in an office

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
He actually has cleaned up his diet. Look at his physique this fight compared to last. He’s got a way to go but it was a big change. Says it was the first camp he used a nutritionist and ate properly.
As for hill being the worst champion ever and sucking etc etc I think you might be going a bit hard. He looked really good. Sure he has some sloppy uppercuts but his stand up was pretty dominant. He was patient, picked his shots well and was in complete control.
Add the fact his takedown defence and ability to get up off his back was way better than people expected.
Now the real question here is how much did glover decline in between fights? Because he looked slow, old and his take down attempts were sloppy at best. Still, is Jiri really much better than hill if at all? Jiris defense on the feet is atrocious, he is there to be hit and gets hit a lot. He was also taken down with ease even though he showed an ability to get up. But Hill looked infinitely better against glover than jiri did.
Who would win, I dunno but hill could definitely sleep him.

This fight was put together in December, no?
Not a full camp, just absolute dog **** stuff making these dudes fight 25 minutes for a belt without a full fight camp.

This actually goes to benefit hill too because he had 5-6 weeks to prepare. Glover had already been in camp up until that point and got his fight canceled. So glover had maybe a week where he though he had no fight and back into camp after doing a full camp. So he had plenty of time to prepare.

I went from being so hardcore to pretty casual to yea, less than a casual now for sure. It just isn't appealing to me to watch entire fightcards full of guys I've never heard of just to get to the main event which is usually about the quality of a "second fight on a ppv" fight so I skip most cards.
The pandemic changed me too because I used to listen to Ariel's show on my commute which I no longer have. Now that I'm back to commuting to the gym, I no longer listen to Ariel's show because he does like, 3 hour shows multiple times a week and its just content overload. I wish he would cut it back to one show again and I might start staying up with the news again.

Sorry to hear about the waning interest, fellas.
It's still real to me. I have waxed and waned periodically cos of life stuff but have lost no interest. All the fascists and divorced dad/manosphere connections are becoming a lot to bear. Maybe that will end this for me.

Uppercuts are my main metric, I gotta be honest. Otherwise, you make some good points. I didn't really watch the fight.
