I guess I just question the utility of cutting all that weight, especially since lots of grappling tournaments do sameday weigh-ins. I think you'd be best off just getting in peak shape and competing at that weight. I've seen lots of guys so preoccupied with weight cutting leading up to tournaments that their training takes second priority which is super counter intuitive to me. I'd say more than half the battle at the lower experience levels is cardio anyway, so cutting weight is probably hurtful there as well.

Thought his was interesting, a legit brown belt finds a business card for a guy who claims to be a black belt but clearly has no idea what he's doing and is scamming people. Look at the armbar from guard attempt! LOL!

The bag work and the armbar from guard made me think it was all a joke.

It really is crazy how many frauds there are, and how successful they can be. He's lucky he didn't get slapped Nick Diaz style in front of all his students.

ADCC competitors finalized for this weekend.
http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/8/24/9198793/list-of-adcc-2015-competitors-complete-including-ben-henderson-hector

Current ufc fighters include Lombard, Bendo, Milton Vieira, and Durinho. Former ufc fighters include Vinny, Monson, and Vagner Rocha.

Obviously the usual suspects of larger than life bjj competitors will be there in Cobrinha, Keenan, Rodolfo, etc. but actually a lot of big names not on the list as well.

Some dude did a huge article on the Gracies for Grantland. I probably would have read it, but I just listened to the podcast and I wasn't at all impressed with the author. Perpetuating myths, exaggerations, etc.

Said Royce was chosen because he was the smallest, not true. Called Rickson the greatest fighter in the history of the earth, saying he never lost a fight or match of any type (not true). I can't remember the exact wording but he called Roger something along the lines of an inept mma fighter. Called Maeda "Count Komo". Said judo didn't have ground work and was basically serious about the longstanding martial arts internet joke that Helio Gracie invented leverage.

Lots of cringe worthy stuff tbh. Anyway, here is the article.

What is the reason why he was chosen?

Its kind of murky but it was supposed to be Rickson from the start but there was a dispute between Rickson/Rorion, almost definitely over the money and how much he would make for fighting. So they went with Royce and spun it which worked brilliantly for them in the end.

In the interest of giving updates for ufc/mma guys that people actually know:

Vinny got a heel hook and then a TWISTER! lol, semis tomorrow.
Bendo lost by RNC in the first round.
Durinho won by armbar in his first match, will update second match when available.
Rocha beat Vieira in the first round.
Lombard won his first on points now will face Xande. edit: lost decision to Xande.

Also, the most prestigious grappling competition int he world, in 2015, is taking place on puzzle mats. :)

Holy sh*t, I guess Glover just snapped a traingle on Geo (Eddie's boy) and Geo slammed his way out. Glover apparently went unconscious briefly then woke back up and continued. OT now. Geo wins, forums saying Glover never recovered from the slam. Wowwww, we'll hear about this for years from EB.

I got to train with Tyron Woodley today which was pretty cool! That dude is a beast to say the least, absolutely no clue how he is at 170 lbs. May have a pic to post later.
