Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Lol. In the top 15? He's 11-1... at LHW.
The real value of p4p is to recognize the differences in difficulty to compete in different weight classes. There are literally 50 better fighters between 145-170 than Hill. Can you imagine someone with his physique and technique at 155? They wouldn't get anywhere near the UFC. For example, Guram Kutaladze is currently #21 in 155's rankings. Yet, he's such a better fighter than Hill. A killer.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Yea nah, he's not top 15 PFP at all. Being big and powerful is still his best ability.
UFC's PFP has morphed into who they want to pretend has the best record between all divisions, it has nothing to do with skillset or weight at all anymore.
Y'all will never be able to view fights as a true casual, because you're too ingrained in the skill and ability side of the sport already. If you turn on a pre-lim fight and two guys are looking top tier, you're still going to eat it up in ways a casual could never appreciate, because they only care about the name on the shorts.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
Damn, UFC Vegas 69 was already the weakest card in the org's history. Then one of the headliners (I don't even know her name) dropped out yesterday. They managed to find a replacement (and Jessica Andrade at that). But I'd like to take a moment to contemplate that we almost had OSP vs Lins as the main event and Jim Miller vs TBD (didn't have an opponent til this past Tuesday) as the co-main.
Shameful for a historic card. You've got to go big for 69. If you have Brock vs Mir for UFC 100, you've got to at least double that excitement for 69.

Unbelievably trash card but the main event was great. Girl who dropped out was santos, who arguably beat Valentina vs blanchfield who is also really good. Now with Andrade I think it takes a hit because she’s more likely to run through blanchfield imo. But the rest of the card stinks.

https://www.ufc.com/event/ufc-fight-night-february-18-2023 glad this is earlier so won't conflict AS much with
NBA ALL star Saturday night. Leafs vs Habs as well which should be a banger & Saturday is gaming night for my static group so there's that as well. Sigh/ugh. gonna be busy! (will have to break out the gaming laptop JUST to use discord on my alt account to communicate with my static gaming group as I'll be broadcasting the NBA all star Saturday night on the NBA Bite discord, if you know you know).

Sometimes I think I have it rough - mortgage, kids, working 60 hour weeks...but this puts everything into perspective.

You're talking about Blanchfield vs Andrade ?
Pretty insane, Blanchfield just dominated her, definitely she's on a hot streak and should get her title fight very soon.
Cheers

I got to watch a replay of this fight I was multitasking that night so barely paid attention.
I remember Blanchfield's previous fight she blazed through someone as well.

It was Molly McCann (looked it up) and easy finish with a crucifix and then Kimura tap. After Valentina's fight we're probably looking at a Blanchfield vs winner (I think vs VS)

LOL - two juggernauts in the headliner, an unranked guy and a number 11 guy. At MW, an absolute garbage division.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Re: Non-threadworthy UFC Events Thread
There was an illness from Krylov so the main event was scrapped, pretty sad but the fights themselves were pretty solid.
In other news Amosov retained his MW title in Bellator and is undefeated. I think it would be wise for UFC to acquire him somehow.
