Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets/Etc., Vol. 5
Askren will make more money for the company with a GSP fight than DJ in his career. As much as we all respect DJ as a fighter, only a small pocket of the population cared to watch a weight category most guys weighed in grade 8. Plus his unwillingness to take challenges from fighters dropping down was a huge embarrassment and black mark.
I really hope they give Askren a quick tune up fight before they feed him to GSP if that is the plan. When Jake Shields was the big name free agent they gave him Kampman as a showcase fight before GSP.

Din Thomas with the gold tweet during the Askren/DJ trade reactions: "From reliable sources, UFC is really close to trading CM Punk for Bob Sapp. #tradedeadline"

Askren has a platinum level troll game.
Im excited to see him in the mix. I love a good troll that doesn't have to result to Colby level insults.

Him vs Khabib at 165 would be the ultimate everything for me.
GSP/Khabib/Askren. LET'S FIGURE OUT WHO THE GOAT IS!

Ben Askren BELONGS in Wisconsin. This is the most Wisconsin **** I've ever seen in my life.
Just going to flood this thread with Askren for a hot minute.

Askren actually fits as a GSP opponent now, I think. GSP always said he wants to do something that has never been done. When Ariel asked him about fighting Ben, he basically said Askren would be a good example of that if he was better known. The obvious thing was Khabib but that probably isn't on the table. So if Khabib isn't an option, Askren is probably the next best thing, and a cut to LW wouldn't be necessary.
Khabib pluses = comes with a title, bigger name after the Conor fight.
Khabib negatives = UFC resistant to the idea, would have to cut to LW
Askren pluses = "never been done" challenge which GSP would get up for, could sell the fight
Askren negatives = not a huge name yet, doesn't come with a a title

He may have a dad bod but the strength you feel when that dude grabs you is superhuman.

I just started a beverage company (www.wearebesteas.com) and we're about to close a deal with a big distributor in WI that also covers Chicago and I think I'm going to be spending a decent amount of time up there. I want to bring my best teammate up there with me to work with y'all a bunch.
How often is Ben around? I'd love to get funked up.

I want GSP, Askren and Khabib to all fight each other so bad. Those are my dream fights right now.

Throw Tony in there because that poor dude has been overlooked so hard.
MAKE 165 AND LET ALL OF THIS HAPPEN THERE.
Tony/Khabib/GSP/Askren 165 4-man tournament.
Hell, throw Colby's dumbass, Diaz, Conor, Artem, Dustin, Wonderboy in there as well and let's figure out who's the freaking GREATEST FIGHTER TO EVER LIVE.
For real though, Askren/Tony/GSP/Khabib at 165 is a death march. No 4 fighters will be coming in hotter than those 4 at the same time.

GSP needs to tell the UFC that if they give him the Khabib fight he will agree to fight Conor or Askren next.
Actually it's in the UFCs best interest for GSP to win and vacate. That way they could do a tournament and sort out the LW dvision.
Khabib
Lee
Askren
Pettis
Tony
Poirer
Conor
Diaz
Make it happen!

Unfortunately haven't seen him around in a long time. Not sure if that could possibly change with the return to MMA. Good luck btw.

Regardless, Nick is a really talented kid and needs to be challenged!

That is delicous.
If they axe 125, maybe Dana will be more willing to create 165.
