Nick Diaz is coming back, and he wants to fight Anderson Silva.

So a LHW coming off a loss and a WW coming off a loss have both asked for a title shot against the MW champ. :lol:

I would love seeing Diaz against Rashad at 185 though.

At least Diaz is coming back. If he can take a fight around the same time as GSP/Condit, that would work out perfectly.

Diaz vs. Kampmann would be awesome if they could put that together.

Yeah. The Gracie blog post said if their appeals go well Diaz could fight by the end of this year, and I guess I got ahead of myself.

Is it the same deal as Overeem, where he can't even apply to be licensed until February 4 (or whatever the date is?)

I looked it up and you're right. Kampmann vs. Hendricks is "rumored" for the GSP/Condit card, so obviously they plan to get the next #1 contender out of that fight.

That puts Diaz not quite at the back of the line, but probably 1 or 2 fights away from a title shot. 1 or 2 fights in a division with a lot of bad matchups for him. What's Diego Sanchez up to? If he's not dropping to LW or already booked in a fight, that seems like a reasonable return fight for Diaz.

The problem with Diaz is that he's literally 7-8 months away from returning. Nobody is going to wait for him that long, he doesn't have a strap. So I guess we will just have to wait and see whose schedule is going to work for around Feb or March of next year. I'm really glad he's coming back, but dude's only served a little bit of his time, and I don't buy that they have good odds to get his sentence lessened.

I love the step up in competition for Silva. I hope he finishes Fitch. The hype at welterweight is all around Rory, but Silva is the real deal as well. It's only a matter of time before their paths cross.

I'm happy about that.

Hopefully he drops the bizarre Jesus thing too, and just walks our normally in his next fight.

Always a fan though, Diego is raw and real.
