Well....I was wrong about Dawson. He won pretty convincingly against Hopkins. Very ugly fight to watch though. Dawson will likely get the winner of the Tavoris Cloud-Jean Pascal fight that will take place in August.

Witherspoon shook up Mitchell in round 1 but Mitchell recovered and dominated the rest of the way for a 3rd round KO. Pretty entertaining fight and it'll be interesting to see who Mitchell will fight next.

HBO kept alluding to some 'young' name at LHW. Who?

They seemed to shutdown the talk from Dawson himself of Showtime's Andre Ward pretty quick.

I caught Hopkins-Dawson. Dawson pulled it off in a really ugly fight. Good on him.

Tavoris Cloud? Nathan Cleverly? I'm not sure...

Looks like Khan/Peterson II might be in jeopardy. Lamont tested positive for a synthetic testosterone back in March. Anomaly right? No, because he tested positive again for one taken in late April.

Makes me wonder if he took something back when they fought late last year. No proof but you have to wonder. The ironic thing is Peterson was the one that demanded the drug testing in the first place. Such a shame because I was really looking forward to this fight. It also sucks because Peterson was a really likable guy that was easy to root for.

That's a damned shame. It happened way too late for a quality opponent to replace Peterson can be found. So Khan will either fight a turd or the show will be canceled all together.

Probably cancelled.

Peterson admitted to taking them. He said that his doctor prescribed testosterone pellets because he had low testosterone levels. But here's the catch. When he tested positive the first time around, Lamont denied it and said it was an impossibility because he had never taken any kind of testosterone before. But after the second sample came back positive, he suddenly remembered that his doctor prescribed them. On top of that, he took it before his first fight with Khan. So not only was Khan fighting a suspect ref that night, but he was fighting a guy that just took synthetic hormones. Right now there's definitely enough evidence to not only suspend Peterson, but to revoke his titles and give them back to Khan. As far as I'm concerned Khan only has one legit loss on his record, and that's the one against Prescott.

Anyway, I think Khan finally makes his move to 147. There are really no exciting fights left for him at 140. I'd like to see him fight Alexander at 147, then the winner of the Ortiz/Berto fight after. If he wins those two fights he definitely would be in prime position for a Mayweather fight late next year.

Khan-Peterson II was officially cancelled this afternoon, the entire card has been scrapped. Golden Boy and HBO are looking for a new date in July for Khan.

If he stays at 140 for one more fight, he should avenge his loss to Prescott. If he moves to 147, Alexander would be a great match up.

Gah. Peterson/camp are such dicks. So many people get shafted because of this. All the UK fans flying over? Jeez. And 10 days out from the fight?? All the undercard fighters? Khan should go play the slots or something with anyone who will still be making the trip.

And the whole previous fight, in which Khan got bashed pretty severely. Upside is Khan only looks better because of this.

Golden Boy and Khan should sue him. He wasted everyone's time. On top of that a lot of money went to waste promoting the fight.

And I don't buy any of these nonsense excuses from Peterson's camp. Fact of the matter is he failed to disclose the matter from the very beginning and even attempted to deny it. On top of that he tried to play the amnesia card. One doesn't simply forget about taking testosterone pellets prescribed by a doctor. Failure to disclose means he's either highly incompetent and stupid or just purposefully dishonest. I'm going with the latter.

Another black eye for the sport. No wonder boxing isn't popular.

Chad Dawson-Andre Ward fight is in the works for September on HBO, according to ESPN. Promoters still working on a location and weight.

Yea it was weird. I was reading up on this on espn (I think) and they were talking as if Peterson is full of $hit. He does all his training in Washington D.C. Its the nations capitol for Pete's sake. You would think he'd be able to find a good doctor there amongst all the guys who our Senators and Representatives go to. Hell, Johns Hopkins is one of the top hospitals/medical schools in the world and its right there. But no Peterson flew to some clinic all the way out in Las Vegas. Very fishy.

ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzz...

I like Andre Ward and all but this fight has boring written all over it. Their styles won't make for an exciting fight. I expect a very slow paced match with massive clinching involved.

I'll be interested in an Andre Ward fight when he finally fights Bute.

I was under the impression that Ward had a contract with Showtime... and yawn... if those are the best American Fighters outside of mayweather... consider me a hater. I love boxing despite what I said before... and it will be bowling shoe ugly.

Ward did appear on the HBO PPV telecast last week, FWIW.

Agree with Butch, this is going to be a rough, ugly fight. Dawson did stay relatively composed through Hopkins rough tactics but he's facing a much quicker, in-prime opponent here. Might give the edge to Ward but it's slight.
