That July 7th card, I'm more looking forward to the undercard fight of Rios-Herrera. Should be great for as long as it lasts.

Garcia isn't noteworthy besides the fact that he brings more jewelery than what his purse is...

Maidana would have taken the fight but he felt they were giving it to him on short notice. I think that would have been a much more compelling matchup.

"Exposed" is a term that's overused by boxing fans. That being said, it's completely appropriate in Bute's case. Boy was I wrong about how good he was. Dude got completely owned by Froch tonight.

Embarassing Bute, don't come back to Canada lol, anyways we'll probably see a better showing from Bute if they rematch

Doubt Bute is lining up to get blasted again. Maybe he can fight Glen Johnson again

Can't wait for this fight. Read earlier that the main event is scheduled to start at 4p PST/7p EST in the US, midnight over in England.

I don't think another word could be used besides exposed....

Bute just doesn't react well to Froch's punches. He was slow as ****, but he could still land punches on him.

We all saw the Andrade fight, where most of us think he got robbed of a KO, but Froch jumped on him early. He is typically a slow starter and by the end of the night it was clear that Bute was in order his head. I was posting on BLH, in the 5th round that Bute came to realization that he isn't going to win.

It is kinda of a scary feeling as a fighter. I remember fighting once, and some guy was just busting me up with his speed/timing. I actually got KO'ed back in the say with a body shot... and boy they do hurt and it is a late reaction. He had a look in his eyes that was defeated already.

Much props to Froch... I am sure Bute will get his rematch, it will be for more money and Showtime or HBO will pick it up because it was an exciting fight despite it lobsidedness.

Top Rank and GB don't work with each other unless there is divine intervention.

We'll see a top rank, golden boy collaboration when Arum's gone and his son in law, Todd Duboeuf takes over, he's like 80, can't be that much longer

No ****...
ATLANTA -- Boxer Paul Williams was paralyzed from the waist down Sunday after being involved in a motorcycle crash in the Atlanta suburbs and doctors said it is unlikely he will continue his career, his manager, George Peterson, said Monday.

"From the waist down, he has absolutely no movement. He's in very good spirits, though," Peterson told The Associated Press from his home in Aiken, S.C. "He still believes he's going to fight again."

Williams severed his spinal cord after falling on his back and head when he was thrown from his motorcycle Sunday morning in Marietta, Ga., Peterson said. Williams has been listed in serious but stable condition on Monday at an undisclosed hospital.

"I know he's going to make a statement after surgery on Wednesday, because he's that kind of person," Peterson said. "He's 100 percent coherent and still has the will to want to get back on the motorcycle."

Williams was scheduled to fight Saul Alvarez on Sept. 15 in Las Vegas but that event has been canceled, Peterson said.

He said he continues to hope with Williams that the boxer's career isn't over.

"I want to think along with him, 'cause I've seen him do things in his boxing career that shouldn't have happened," he said.

The crash happened Sunday morning in Marietta after Williams tried to avoid another car in the next lane that was negotiating a curve and then had to maneuver to avoid an oncoming car. Williams was in the area to attend his brother's wedding Sunday afternoon, Peterson said.

"We want his fans to know he's going to be all right and he'll be back," Peterson said. "He said if he wasn't going to be boxing, he's going to be a stand-up comedian."

Sad to hear... wish him the best :(

More bad news...

Johnny Tapia, who won five world titles in three weight classes during a 23-year pro boxing career, was found dead at his home in Albuquerque on Sunday, May 27. He was 45 years old.

Boxing fans will remember Tapia not just for his energetic, exciting style in the ring, or for his time in the upper echelon of the sport, but also for being one of boxing's most colorful characters -- as well as one of its most tragic. Tapia's entire life was a whirlwind, starting with his father being murdered before he was born and his mother murdered when he was a child, abducted before his very eyes.

At nine, boxing came into his life. And he credited the sport with saving it many times over. He turned pro in 1988, at the age of 21, and in 1994 won his first world title, the WBO super flyweight belt. He defended that title ten times before unifying it with the IBF belt, and he defended those two belts twice more, before moving up to bantamweight in December 1998.

- Froch/Bute...shocking. I didn't see that kind of domination from Froch coming. Right from the middle of the 1st, I could tell this was going to be his night.

- Sad, sad last 24 hours for boxing. Johnny Tapia found dead, then this news that Paul Williams likely won't walk again. Just horrible.

Man, apparently Williams had really set himself up well for retirement too. He had a bunch of good real estate.

Please. He's not a coward, anything but that. His will to hang in there through this beating and the Andrade beating is crazy. He'll re-match and he'll have a much better performance.

I hope so. I always liked Bute. I hope he comes back strong because it would make for a great story. But based off that performance I'm not so sure that he'll bounce back. These are the type of losses that change career trajectories.

That was some Jeff Lacy type exposing, Bute might be the toughest mo effer in the planet but like another poster said, you could see the defeat in his eyes as Froch just continued to hurt him with shot after shot. I don't know how that guy takes a rematch knowing he's completely outclassed.

Also, now with Williams' unfortunate situation where does GB go for Alvarez' next fight?

It's going to be tough to regain confidence after a beat down like that. Unfortunately, real life isn't like a Rocky movie. Don't think you're going to be seeing a Clubber Lang like rebound from Bute here.

Kirkland, Lara, Molina all come to mind. Don't think they would match him up with Cotto or Mayweather just yet. Martirosyan is out of the question because he's a Top Rank fighter.
