Go ask this former college football player how it worked out going against a MMA guy half his size.

My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

LOL at some people that actually think Zion (who probably has 0 fighting experience) has a chance in hell of beating McGregor. 102 people need to actually get heavily educated in terms of BJJ/MMA fighting.

I bet you a lot of people here think they could easily beat someone like Henry Cejudo or Demetrius Johnson because theyre taller and heavier.

I use to go to a gym where a 17 year old high school wrestler, who was probably 5'5" about 150lbs soaking wet, was doing 400+lb max presses like it was nothing. But just looking at him, you'd think he was some weak little kid. A lot of people don't understand how insanely strong some of these guys are.

Yeah it's so stupid, oh but McGregor is only 5'9". so what, Tyson is 5'10 and Mayweather is 5'8". You don't have to be a giant to be a great fighter.

Okay if it's all about size. Does a 6'6 220 pound James Harden beat Conor?

What a terrible comparison. Zion is one of the strongest players in the league and moves 7 footers with ease on a nightly basis.

He is a legit 280lbs plus of muscle. Now what part of that sounds at all like Harden?

Zion grabs Connor and its over.

Im trying to see where the line is where size is just too big for him to overcome.

this is where you draw the line for terrible comparisons? Every few pages on this thread is comparing Zion to the Mountain.

The Mountain is 450lbs of pure muscle and one of the strongest humans in the entire planet. What part of that sounds at all like Zion?

How is this thread almost 30 pages? I don't know if Zion has ever been in a fight in his entire life let alone any training so putting him up against a professional knockout artist, one of the best in the entire world at what he does and somebody who stood toe to toe with Floyd Mayweather without being humiliated, it's no contest. One thing I miss about early MMA were the "freak show" fights where there would be huge size differences between the fighters and if you watched those fights you'd know that the more skilled guy pretty much 100% of time wrecks the much bigger fighter. PRIDE use to have a bunch of fights like that back in the day, makes the fighters seem larger than life I think since it's hard quantify how much more skilled they are than the regular person against someone similarly skilled around the same size.

If you're asking me who the Mavs best player is, I'd say Luka. A guy like Delon Wright probably rivals his impact though at this stage in his career. KP may as well if he gets his **** together.

give six months for zion to camp, then it might be interesting. Right now conor could get him with a sub because of zions lack of knowledge of martial arts. But i mean, at some point 100 pounds is 100 pounds ! guy can just bear hug him

For those saying size is too much. Im honestly just curious what the line in the sand is for size being too big.

Conor 5'9 170 (last weight class he fought at):
James Harden: 6'6 220
Draymond: 6'6 230
PJ Tucker: 6'5 245
Eric Paschall: 6'6 255

When it comes to Zion, what is the line in the sand for fighter Zion can take just from his size:
Khabib: 5'10 155
Usman: 6'0 170
Yoel: 5'10 185
Costa: 6'0 185
Israel: 6'4 185
Jones: 6'4 205

I just used their weight classes, too lazy to dig up their walk around weights. Again curious where that line is where size is just too much for Conor, and when size just isn't enough for Zion.

That's precisely the worst take you can have, from one that has no idea what martial arts are, especially close combat martial arts like BJJ... The worst thing that Zion can do is "get a hold" on Connor. The best thing he could do would be to try a Bob Sapp Donkey Kong attack and just bumrush connor with 100% of his power and hope something sticks. But when you are in close contact with a grapler your power is rendered pretty much useless, and technique takes over.

Could a 145lb man even knock out a 280lb man.

I don't think it's even possible, he can't generate enough force.

Feel free to list the fights that a guy KO'ed another guy that's 135lbs heavier. Because I don't think many of those fights exist. If any.

Its been posted over and over again on here. Roger Huerta who was on the downside of his career, who is the same size as Conor (nowhere close to the striker Conor is) got in a street fight and knocked out a 250-pound Division 1 linebacker.

Yeah, that's impressive. Still 30-40 lbs short though.

That's really the problem though, you run into the limitations of what is even possible at that weight range differential.
