Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
I'm so pumped up for Dantas x Warren! I think Dantas is avoiding the LnP on the early rounds and maybe 3rd or 4th round TKO...

props to C.lupus

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Lol just tuned into my first bellator in a long time for the start of the second round of Dudu/Warren...within one minute already have seen one Nova Uniao fence grab. edit: Make that two within three minutes. Aaaand one last one to finish the round.
The Aldo fight in Brazil is going to look like the movie cliff hanger.
(to be fair it seems like Warren grabbed Dudu's gloves multiple times as well)

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Anddd Dantas just flashed the world. yikes.
edit: LOL, this dude won't let go of the fence man, I've counted 5+ easily. McCarthy is all bark and no bite, unless it comes to standing up fighters who are grappling.
Dudu had an armbar earlier, it seemed like he just let go, not sure what happened. Warren is a very good scrambler.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
At least Dudu was fence grabbing against a guy trying to avoid a fight after the first round. It's an offset. Under the current scoring system/precedent, Warren won, but that's a sign they should be tweaked. Because as far as damage/discomfort created in that fight, he lost decisively. I'd have much rather been Dantas. He should get a rematch with that factored in as well as the alternatives. And he probably wins this fight under the current rules even if he chooses to latch on the rnr without trying to sink the hooks in which Warren was balling up to avoid. Without the hooks either Warren violently rolls to his back and then is on bottom or gets choked out. With them tenuously in it gave Warren a sweeping opportunity and then he rode out the round and fight on top.
Pretty crazy to think the names Warren has on his resume. Pitbull, Dantas, Silva, Kid, Galvao, Georgi, Soto, Beebe, and Marx. You should have more of a distaste for the way he's going about trying to win more, RZ. He received a TUE exemption last year, and it's been pretty obvious he's on it since the Marx fight.
Page and Sarnavskiy did their things. Also, Manny Sanchez from Roufus. So they'll continue to move into bigger and bigger fights. Not much notable about Page's and Manny's fights, but man Sarnavskiy's got some sharp hands (rocking dudes with jabs) and finally we got to see his back control and chokes in Bellator. That was a strength coming from Russia.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Don't mistake my complete and utter indifference towards all things Joe Warren with some kind of fandom towards him.
Its just laughable how often Dantas grabs the cage and how big Fat John's bark is compared to his bite, except when it comes to standing up grapplers who are trying to grapple.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
What about ball shots and hasty stoppages too?
BM is just all around terrible these days.
Speaking of the constant loud barking alone for attention and power, that makes him a bad ref by itself. How would you like to be a fighter trying to focus on what you are supposed to do and what your corner is saying, and you get his constant distractions about what you shouldn't do before you've even done it instead? I'd be sick of all the gosh darn negativity. I'm an idea man.
Incidentally, I think he tossed someone from the arena last night for daring to question his authority. I'm not sure if it was a fan or cornerman, but it was right after yelling at the fighters, so I bet the person was telling him to shut up already. If I was drunk enough and cageside I might be compelled to get my opinion too for fights he was reffing.

Joe Warren, man. I think an obvious suspect for the full buffet of PEDs but I nonetheless would never have suspected he could be that dynamic. Lateral movement, scrambling... he looked great.
Didn't know bout the TUE exempt til saw above but was thinking EPO and recovery pharma for sure.

There was one sequence in the 3rd or 4th when Dantas had the underhook and was trying to force him down with it...I don't even know what the hell Warren did, but he ended up on top, it was ridiculous.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
This guy on the mmabeat just said that bellator has 4 of the 8 ufc hall of famers working for them now. Is that true? Pretty crazy actually.
Royce, Tito, Bonnar...who is the 4th? And who are even the other four hall of famers? Hughes and Chuck? Forrest? They work for the UFC I know. Dan Severn? Free agent lol. Who is the last?
edit: Ahhhh, Randy. Yep 4/8, crazy.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Oops, maybe I shouldn't have taken Chuck Mindenhall's (I think it was him) word for it that there were 8. Or perhaps I misheard and he said something to the effect of 4 work for bellator and 8 don't or some such.
Still, over 1/3 of the living hof members currently work for bellator.

Yeah, I saw that too, but the UFC page isn't the best to go by. Elsewhere they have mentions of the other guys as being in the HOF.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Listening to this Joe Warren interview on mmahour. He is talking about doing World Championships next year in wrestling. Would he be able to do that on the trt?

I wouldn't think so. It would be difficult for him to qualify anyways - each country can only send one wrestler per weight class/discipline.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Terrible, self-destructive behavior from Neer during that fight. That's no way to perform at a sport. You've accepted what's being done to you by the other guy, given up 'fair' attempts to stop it.
That's also no way to referee. But a weird position when you're explicitly asked to justify your application of the rules. I'm not sure I've ever seen that before...not unless it's between an NFl coach and a ref anyways. That coach is being rhetorical, though, and not competing.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Listening to the Nam Phan interview on mmahour yesterday. The dude slurs like crazy now. Probably the quickest onset I've personally heard, unless for some weird reason he just speaks differently on the phone than he does on tv.
edit: ahh, he just said he was "sparring everyday". Makes sense now.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Main card (Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET)
Tito Ortiz vs. Stephan Bonnar
Michael Chandler vs. Will Brooks
Mo Lawal vs. Joe Vedepo
Melvin Manhoef vs. Joe Schilling
Nam Phan vs. Mike Richman
Undercard (MMA Fighting at 7 p.m. ET)
Kyle Bolt vs. A.J. Matthews
Ron Henderson vs. Jonathan Santa Maria
Jordan Bailey vs. Alex Higley
Nick Garcia vs. Matthew Ramirez
Andy Murad vs. Bubba Pugh
Rolando Perez vs. Mark Vorgeas
Ian Butler vs. Joao Faria
Pretty great. Broadcast on a Saturday, apparently a new strategy. Probably as sound as their PPV.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Such hard luck, Phan's had one of the roughest careers. Seems like this will haunt him long after.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Yea IDK I may watch this instead of the ufc. The fact that I can watch this for free and it has Chandler fighting. Plus I'm sure there will be some lolz to be had during the main event. And I like both Phan and Richman.
