And I guess Irvin was tried in 1990 in a gang rape but got off because he said he couldn't get it up.

They were FRIENDS with this girl. She went and trained at the same gym as them. What the hell is wrong with them?

Mateo even changed his profile picture on facebook on new years day. How do you continue to function like everything is normal after doing something so god damn terrible?

At first I read the story and was just like this is so **** up, then kind of brushed it off. Then I read further into it. Man these people were training partners. It seems like that pretty much equals family at Lloyd Irvin's. She trusted these guys to get her home. I tried to imagine a similar scenario happening at my gym and it was impossible for me to do. Just scumbags man, these guys are supposed to be there for each other.

As for the LI thing, I read about that too. I have no idea the circumstances. If one wanted to make excuses for that, one probably could. But to have the AUDACITY to have rape prevention seminars and such after you were on trial for a gang rape is just shocking.

I have been digging the hell out of the brown belt kumite (you watch that?) and other projects, but man its going to be hard for me to look at him the same way.

A UFC contract outlines the company's intent to book Alvarez an immediate title shot in March and offers a cut of the promotion's pay-per-view profits, according to an exhibit in a lawsuit Bellator MMA filed against the 28-year-old fighter, a copy of which today was obtained by MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com).

An eight-fight deal would start Alvarez at $70,000 to show and $70,000 to win and raises in $5,000 increments with each win until it tops out at a guaranteed $210,000 for a win, the exhibit states. Alvarez would also be guaranteed a $250,000 signing bonus, payable in two installments of $85,000 and one of $80,000.

When Alvarez fights on a UFC pay-per-view broadcast, the offer entitles him to $1 for each "buy" between 200,000 and 400,000 buys, $2 per buy between 400,000 and 600,000 buys, and $2.50 per buy over 600,000 buys.

http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/01/e ... r-view-cut

Man, Dana went after Eddie HARD. The best division in the sport may be getting crowded at the top again if bellator loses their lawsuit.

That seemed like a lot more when reading the numbers, but if everything goes perfectly that's "only" $2,250,000 (+$2.50 per buy over 600,000 which prob. won't happen) over 8 fights. But I guess that's still a ton by MMA standards.

Doesn't the language of the PPV cuts make it impossible for Bellator to match? Or for it to hold up if challenged? I think I read that somewhere.

Either way, at a certain point, I'm not sure it makes sense for Bellator to keep him around. People aren't tuning into Bellator for star power.

I think the ppv cuts has to be key. Its impossible for them to match, but does that mean they rule in favor of bellator or of Alvarez? Bellator has to match the contract, but there is going to be differences between any two organizations regardless. Alvarez is arguing its not a true match because of all the money left on the table (presumably by that match). We'll see how the court sees it I guess.

I'm kind of surprised bellator is going this hard after him. They already did all their advertising for their spike move without him as far as I saw, seemed like they knew they were going to have to let him go. Now they throw this dollars at him? I'm a little surprised.

Funny, these BJJ guys pick a time when everyone is already fuming about the Ohio football cover-up.

Love to take a bat to all parties involved.

A sick and disgusting story, and I hope they are dealt with in a very harsh manner.

The guy's 125 pounds and he's going to prison for a crime that fellow prisoners won't be fond of. They will both get theirs. If we can't go like Iran and break their legs in a public square and brand a letter R on their foreheads, the best we can hope is that they're brutalized themselves-- which they will be.

Yea, lots of "hope they have been practicing their rear mount escapes" jokes on the grappling forums right now.

Pumped to see Neil Degrasse Tyson as the latest guest on Rogan's podcast. About to listen now, if Rogan and Redban talk stoner crap and not let him speak enough, I'm going to be so pissed.

I was disappointed Vitor Belfort started talking in tongues when asked about TRT recently. He had a little more to say on Monday when he was asked directly about my concerns that all his recent UFC fights were won by illegal punches to the back of the head. In between lengthy references to the New Testament, Belfort basically said he doesn't care if he hits opponents behind the head. How he's gotten away with this in his career is a mystery to me, and I hope we have a strong referee who has the balls to do something about it - if it happens - with thousands of Belfort supporters screaming in the stands. And of course it is down to me to make sure I'm not put in a position where he can unload these kinds of shots. Vitor has one or two rounds to beat me - or try to hit me behind the head - and then his gas tank will be empty and the fight will look like that Rocky vs. that dead cow.

I've been listening on and off at work, probably only a third of the way through. Its kind of funny hearing Rogan sort of passively advocate his usual conspiracy theorist (mostly) nonsense while having it all shot down again and again by DeGrasse Tyson.

Rogan's a weird case. He questions a lot, but part of him is really credulous at the same time.

I gotta listen to this episode. Neil deGrasse Tyson is coming to my school in April and as a Physics major I really hope he talks to my department individually.

Looks like Beltran and Palhares were juicing for their last fights.

sherdog.com has the story.

NO. I refuse to believe it.

I didn't bother watching Beltran's last fight. Was he just not as fat as hw Beltran? Or was he ripped as well?

That one didn't exactly blow me away either.

Lombard and Belcher both did the job on ruining the fear that followed around Paul Harris.

I think lower-tier and maybe some mid-tier guys are still going to get a leg ripped off when the Stumpy One lock on the leg lock, but I can't see anyone in the top 20 getting caught by it anymore.

Paul Harris is going to need a whole new bag in the future, including a better "dietitian" to assist him in covered up his tracks.

Beltran is a gamer, and i like him, and he's denying injecting the nandrolone, but have ever had a pro athlete admit to using PEDS? Maybe a few, not many.

Also, Jake Shields says he would love to share the results with the drug tests, but the Colarado commission has a nondisclosure agreement.
Says it was a mistake, and that is weren't jazz parsley.
Ed Herman basically said he thought Jake was on something too.

Pretty good. I thought they spent too much time talking about moon landing bs. The rest was pretty much Tyson going through and giving random awesome facts about the Cosmos. Sweet.

Also, he was in L.A. because I guess Fox is doing another version of the COSMOS stuff that Carl Sagan (one of the GOATs) used to do. Awesome.
