Overeem vs. Rogers May 15th

Post#1 » by High 5 » Wed May 12, 2010 3:10 pm

Main Card:

Alistair Overeem (c) vs. Brett Rogers
Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva
Ronaldo Souza vs. Joey VillaseƱor
Roger Gracie vs. Kevin Randleman
Rafael Cavalcante vs. Antwain Britt

I'm excited for Overeem/Rogers even if it's a joke that Rogers gets a title shot off of a loss. Some other interesting fights, too.

It's a really solid card. Although I expect this to be the end for Randleman.

Awesome card. I hope Roger does better than Rolles (he has to, right?).

The fact that Rodgers has a title shot after a loss isn't a joke. Its a paper belt because Overeem never defended it in 2 years. For all intents and purposes Fedor became Strikeforce's champion the day he signed with them. Overeem vs. Rodgers is essentially a glorified #1 contenders fight.

Fedor has no more right to the title than Alistair. ^ It's not a given that he'd beat him.

Randleman has been done for a while. That's a lame fight. I'd rather Rogers face a totally inexperienced guy with a pulse than a burnt-out ex-star.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Looking forward to this, but the way it just snuck up says a lot about Strikeforce's **** marketing.

Plus, I would have liked to see Overeem vs. Arlovski, Rogers vs. Silva instead, but these fights are pretty good I guess.

Overeem
Arlovski
Jacare
Gracie

I had no idea there was a Strikeforce card this weekend until I took a peek at Sherdog this morning. I have never seen Overeem, Jacare, or Roger Gracie fight live so I'm looking forward to it.

Yes it's on Showtime. If I had to guess we won't be seeing SF on CBS anymore.

We'll see Strikeforce on CBS again. The Fedor fight did excellent on CBS. We'll probably see Strikeforce on CBS again in the fall.

They lost money on that event, and while I think it did alright, it certainly didn't do "excellent."

They can do comparable numbers with re-runs.

Overeem made QUICK work of Rogers.. Absolutely demolished him.. A fight vs. Fedor would be very interesting

I do as well. Fedor's people can't call Overeem weak competition now, he just manhandled Rogers better than Fedor did. Hopefully we can see a Fedor/Overeem fight in October.

Meh. The first fight that I didn't care anything about was the best one.

At least we have a solid foundation for Fedor/Overeem now.
