UFC 119 Headliner: Nog vs. Mir

Post#1 » by REDDzone » Thu Jul 8, 2010 9:52 pm

Tentative card:

Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira*
Ryan Bader vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira*
Evan Dunham vs. Sean Sherk*
Melvin Guillard vs. Jeremy Stephens*
C.B. Dollaway vs. Joe Doerksen*
Joey Beltran vs. Matt Mitrione*
T.J. Grant vs. Julio Paulino*

I don't think Nog has anything for Mir at this point in his career.

Pretty good card. Can Big Nog avenge his loss ? Lil' Nog going to spank Bader .

Dunham/Sherk will be good. Got Dunham by subm. Guillard/ Stevens will be FOTN .

Eh, not as good as having Brock vs Cain and Rampage vs Lil Nog but good card nonetheless

eh.. I'd bet the house on Bader against Nog. Lil Nog looked lousy in his last fight outside of the first round. Bader will rough him up imo.

That doesn't look great. Almost like a UK/Europe card.

Never made much sense to me to have Brock vs. Cain in **** Indiana though.

Sherk vs Dunham - don't sleep on the significance to the LW division of that one. It's a great match-up. Former champ against a really hot prospect. I want that to be 5 rounds.

I'll take that bet. Bader goes down like Cane did.

It's an exciting match, a pick 'em.

Two Nogs on one card is pretty cool. Not the sexiest of cards but what can you expect when nearly every card since 110 has been really good on paper.

The Dunham/Sherk fight will be excellent, as will Guillard/Stephens. I don't care about the rest, however. Mir/Nog are rightfully out of the picture... Pretty weak card.

I like the card, but I was hoping it'd be Sot vs Dunham.

Mir needs to win this fight to keep his job in the UFC imo.

I hope he does, I like this guy and I love his interviews.

Come on Frank, get back up there!

What?

Frank Mir is a long way away from getting cut. Unless I missed something, he's only on a one fight losing streak.

He loses to Nog, and it means a rubber match somewhere down the line, not a pink slip.

Yea, Dana was recently quoted as saying that Mir, along with Brock and Carwin(?) were the top heavyweights in the world and would all beat the **** out of Fedor.

Mir is coming off an interim title bout and had only fought top competition for his last several fights. Loooooong way from being cut.

Mir is not going anywhere.
His fights against Brock have made him very well known and even if he doesn't win this fight or his next, no way will Dana give the competition a big name to headline with.

Doesnt look like a bad card, but its got a lot of fight of the night cadidates written all over it, which is the most important factor here, not the names.

That's a sweet fight on paper, but their last one sucked. I think this time will be a lot better.

A waste, IMO.

Their last fight sucked, and there are much better fights out there for both guys. What's more is that a win doesn't even do that much for either guy.

Guillard is gonna turn Stephens lights out. Melvin WILL reach his potential.

His last few fights, he looks like he has finally matured. So I agree .
