Diaz vs. Noons 2

Post#1 » by Cammo101 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 7:19 pm

Looks like the rematch a lot of people wanted to see is finally green lit. I wonder if Diaz will be dumb enough to stand and bang with Noons again?

Strikeforce could have something with Noons.

What weight class? 160?

It's been a while since Diaz fought that low, hasn't it?

Nick is the current welterweight champ. Does Noons go up to 170 or will it be at a catch weight ?

I think if Diaz keeps his range he could easily knock out Noons, I saw their 1st fight as a fluke win, Diaz OWNS Noons in every aspect in the rematch.

I have serious doubts about Diaz being able to stand with Noons and win. Diaz's striking is solid, but he does not have boxing anywhere close to Noons. Just because Diaz can overwhlem average strikers/boxers does not mean he can do it to Noons.

Noons dominated Diaz standing before their first fight was stopped.

Ooh, ee. He has boxing just as good as Noons'. "Solid"??

Noons definitely had Diaz's number in the first, but he had come out with a weird stance, throwing from a strange combo of angles. Diaz didn't catch on quick enough. It reflected good strategy.

Zaromkis is not an average striker. Neither is a 185 pound Scott Smith or Robbie Lawler.

Noons does not have the power to rock Diaz and that could be his downfall. You can't give Diaz that long, the straights are going to accumulate. That said, Noons won't try to take the centre of the ring as he did with Noons. He'll move and stay on his toes. Maybe he can pick Diaz apart.

I don't think Diaz striking is all that close to Noons, though it is most certainly better than most.

Zaromskis, Smith, and Lawler all have heavy hands, but none are top level boxers really. They are powerful guys who try for one punch (or kick) KOs.

"Nick says he's bringing his guys, but so am I. They're going to need to beef up security. This is beyond a grudge match. I'm going to light him up like a Christmas tree. He's going to have to kill me to [to beat me]. It's very personal."

I would like nothing more than to see the Diaz brothers concussed as often as possible.

Flipping off commission personnel, the Mayhem brawl, just generally being pieces of crap when compared to the rest of society. If they didn't fight professionally, you know they'd be at the club every night picking fights with everyone who looks at them wonky.

Yep. The reason neither Nick or Nate will ever be elite in MMA is they care far more about being seen as tough than they do about winning. Nick could have taken Noons down in the first fight and won, but he chose not to. After the beating he took in that fight, we know Nick sees himself as far too tough to not stand in front of Noons and bang with him this time around in a flawed attempt to show he really is the tougher guy.

bump...this event is tomorrow.

* Champ Nick Diaz vs. K.J. Noons (for welterweight title)
* Champ Sarah Kaufman vs. Marloes Coenen (for women's welterweight title)
* Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante vs. Josh Thomson
* Andre Galvao vs. Tyron Woodley

Pretty decent card, where Strikeforce is actually doing some things right (having Woodley and Kaufman fight on real a real Strikeforce on Showtime event), but nobody seems to care. I didn't even really remember it was happening until I saw a link for the preview show (another thing Strikeforce may or may not finally be doing right) on a torrent site when I was looking for something completely unrelated.

I'm glad I took a peak at Sherdog and noticed the Strikeforce ads or I would have likely missed another one. I'm always excited to see Diaz fight.
