UFN 23/Fight For The Troops - Jan 22

UFC: Fight For The Troops 2, also referred to as UFC Fight Night 23, is expected to take place on January 22, 2011 at Fort Hood, near Killeen, Texas. The event will be the third that the UFC has hosted in cooperation with a US military base.
* Kenny Florian vs. Evan Dunham
* Yves Edwards vs. Melvin Guillard
* Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran
* Mike Swick vs. David Mitchell
* Matt Mitrione vs. Tim Hague
* DaMarques Johnson vs. Mike Guymon
* Waylon Lowe vs. Willamy Freire
* Amilcar Alves vs. Charlie Brenneman
* Chan Sung Jung vs. Rani Yahya
I think Edwards is in for another rude dismissal from the org. Why feed the guy to a younger version of himself?
Florian vs Dunham is awesome. I'd accept that for a PPV main event. Already, co-main. The rest of the card is sorta weak. Those heavyweight fights feature the sloppiest, least technical guys in the UFC. Barry being the exception. But they sure do swing hard. Hoo-ra.

Zombie vs. Yahya could be good.
Kinda excited to see Yves Edwards back. I've always liked him for some reason.

No doubt, also think Johnson vs Guymon could be good . Pat Barry will have a highlight reel type KO over Beltran . Meathead vs Hague will be good too . I think it's a good card , really looking forward to Florian vs Dunham .

Florian out, Guillard moved from Edwards to the main bout against Dunham.

Huge blow to this card. Florian vs. Dunham is a PPV co-main event level fight that would have been on free TV.
Still some decent fights on the show, but man...when the biggest star on the show is Evan Dunham, that's kinda rough. Maybe I'm underestimating his popularity, but I feel like most people still don't really know who he is.
I think they should have tried to throw together a rematch with Sherk.

Florian going out crushes this card. That was the only truely PPV quality fight on the card.

Pat Barry got a massive amount of camera time in the lead-up to the CC fight. And Guillard is a TUFer. I'd say they're both more well known than Dunham.
For a freebie show on Spike, I don't think the loss of Florian is that crushing. People tune into those because it's live UFC on a Wednesday night. If they have a sense that there will be exciting fights, they're there. I think it's less abnout name recognition when you're not being asked to drop $55..

Mitrione is probably the most well known guy on the card now, since TUF 10 is still fresh in everyone's minds and he beat Kimbo on PPV (I'm speaking in terms of the casual fan).

I'm pretty bummed that Florian won't be on this card, but it's still a very solid Fight Night card. Much better than the Bonnar one we just had...

Cody "Guillotine" McKenzie is in to face Yves Edwards. He takes the spot Guillard left to replace Florian.
Yves may in fact kill this guy.
