In terms of number 1s at each aspect, I agree with yours except for GnP (I'd have GSP) and submissions (definitely Aoki)

GSP having the 2nd best standup is just crazy.

i'm too lazy to do all these right now but i think overeem should definitely make the list for top strikers.

and some of the best wrestlers are not the top fighters.... just yet. off the top of my head i have-

1. GSP
2. Sonnen
3. King Mo
4. Phil Davis
5. Ben Askren

Surprised Cammo is the only one thats put Jon Jones in anything. He made Hammil and Vera, both declarated top level grapplers, look like they'd never trained wrestling in their lives. His GNP is brutal and getting better, just look at it from S.Bonnar fight to his last couple ...

Fitch as well, he's like a mini-gsp. I think Shields has excellent wrestling as well.

I wont bother trying to list as I feel I suck at ranking things anyway.

Matyushenko was an Olympic caliber wrestler too and Jones tossed him around like a ragdoll.

Hmm, good thread.

Standup/Striking:
1: Alistair Overeeem
2: Cung Le
3: Shogun
Honorable Mentio/Guilty Pleasure: Junior Dos Santos/Anderson Silva

Wrestling/Takedowns:
1: Georges St Pierre
2: Gray Maynard
3: Jon Jones (God, it's hard not to love this kid. His striking made me think about him for the list above. But, it's just so undisciplined. But his wrestling is so good. His ground and pound will be legendary.)
Honorable Mention/Guilty Pleasure: Chael Sonnen

Submissions:
1: Shinya Aoki
2: Jake Sheilds
3: Nate DIaz
Honorable Mention/Guilty Pleasure: Bj Penn (no one doubts his creds his striking has just evolved so much)

Defense (Probably most important aspect of MMA:
1: Anderson Silva
2: Georges St Pierre
3: BJ Penn
Honorable Mention/Guilty Pleasure: Chuck Liddell

i think Aoki has to be the number one submission guy. whenever the fight goes to the ground i literally get scared that i'm going to see a broken limb happen live. and it's happened a couple times.

Anderson SIlva is 10x the fighter of Le, yes.
Well, 100x probably.

But, how can you watch Le's fights an disagree.
His opponents know he only has one trick in his bag to go to. And yet, he still picks them apart with every strike there is.

Well for starters, his best win's are against Scott Smith and an old Frank Shamrock. He would get tooled in a standup battle with Silva, probably within 2 minutes Forrest Griffin style. I like watching Cung Le and he is one of the most entertaining fighters in MMA no doubt, partly because he's flashly and largely because SF is good at feeding him guys that play into his style. But put him in against non-crap competition and he'd get knocked out if he tried one of his spinning back kicks

Agree to disagree I guess.
I understand he hasn't beat anyone to really gauge it. And he is getting fed the right fights, but he would lose because of the lack elsewhere not because of striking.

The way I look at this thread, I would love to see a fighter with Le's striking (Actually I had Overeem 1st), St Pierres wrestlijng, and Aokis subs.
