I went with Edgar over Penn here. 8.5 years since Penn was beaten at 155 after finishing five straight opponents in LW championship matches . That he did it a second time, even more convincingly, gives this category to him, IMO.

I don't think anyone expected Werdum to beat Fedor, but at the same time, people were expecting Fedor to lose eventually. Penn looked like a killer and Edgar looked like a 145-er.

Yea he's been dominant at LHW but we've seen Penn lose before (I know, at WW but still) and the GSP fight was still fresh in everyone's minds. It was still a big upset but it wasn't as shocking as seeing Fedor lose for you know.. the first time ever. People were thinking Overeem would be a tough test for him but veeery few people thought Werdum even had a chance.

Fedor getting subbed >>>>> a BS decision over Penn, come on.

Some of the other ones shouldn't even be on the list, because both of the fighters involved suck, so there can be no upset, but Russow vs. Duffee gets a few points just for the way it played out.

Edgar was the underdog as champion... and won convincingly. Penn is the GOAT LW and Edgar kicked him out of the division for good, it seems. Bigger upset than a can crusher getting crushed by a can.

Frankie Edgar over BJ Penn (1st fight) because RealGM told me to. The obvious answer is Werdum, but it has a comfortable lead.
