Nelson is a bad matchup for Mir IMO.

Definitely. I hope Rampage knocks Silva's block off.

Nelson's toughness is going to be a problem for Mir. Nelson by UD.

Ehhh, idk. I think Mir does everything Nelson does, only better at this point in his career.

Neither guy is getting subbed by anyone at HW.

Difference is Roy doesn't get knocked out, tough as nails. Mir gets TKOed all the time.

And I'm not biased, Mir is actually my favorite fighter, I hope I'm wrong.

Mir will not engage or try to hug him against the cage.
Book it.

I don't know what their game plans will be quite honestly. Nelson will likely try to stand with Mir but he sure as heck doesn't mind going to the ground, even with Mir's talents there.

It's a wash in terms of power, ground game, and wrestling, but Nelson's got a waaaaaaay better chin. Mir will definitely try to squash him against the cage and grind out a cheap decision that way. Hopefully the ref is as willing to separate them as the ref was willing to get Arlovski out of that kimura attempt.

I think long ago they squared off in a grappling tournament and Nelson dominated.

Not sure how relevant a factor that would be today, but indicates to me Nelson has the edge on the ground.

Nelson also ragdolled Monson and Vera in grappling competitions, but he never really uses BJJ in fights and Mir hasn't in a long time either. Roy likes to use his weight to smother guys and if he gets on top, I don't see Mir getting out. I don't think anyone has gotten out of that position. I don't see either guy subbing the other unless someone got rocked. This fight will come down to toughness and Nelson has it in spades. Mir folds like a cheap chair when he's hit and we know Nelson hits like a truck. BEYOND excited for this fight.
