Coker alluded to this yesterday when he said they had "a superfight for July (I think he said PPV) that he couldn't announce yet."

He said this was in addition to the hw grand prix. So it was pretty obvious who he was talking about. I assume this means Fedor is dropping down.

This would be at HW, I'd imagine.

He's fought Big Nog and other HWs though.

Kinda doubt Fedor is dropping down to 205...will just be a superfight.

Could have sworn they fought in Rings. Maybe I'm thinking of Babalu vs Fedor.

No way does Fedor go all the way to 205. But they might give him a maximum weight of 220 or something. That would be significant, as it would be the first time Fedor would have to actually diet.

I don't think Fedor's fought a smaller guy from Pride on. Cro Cop was about a wash.

He fought Matt Lindland for Bodog fights.

As for the fight itself. I'm going to buy the PPV to support Strikeforce but this isn't a fight that excites me. I'm a huge Fedor fan and I really don't see what he could get from beating an older man who fought at 185 within the past 2 years. I would much rather see him fight one of the lesser heavyweights like Shane Del Rosario. Even with a win this fight doesn't prove whether or not Fedor can still hang as a heavyweight.

They teased this during the Strikeforce broadcast when they showed Dan Henderson, though they didn't mention Fedor by name.

I don't think it's a particularly relevant fight to any division right now, but it's a nice, competitive fight between two all time greats, and the winner gets a big feather in his cap and helps his argument for Greatest of All Time. I wouldn't buy the PPV, but I'll be looking forward to watching it.

I would compare it to the Couture vs. Nogueira fight from a few years back. One can only hope it will be as good.

Huge fight, not relevant as you said, but two greats finally going at it is never a bad thing. Fedor might get a second wind at 205 if he can make the cut.

Screw relevancy this is awesome, much bigger than Couture/Nog (IMO, although the comparison is good)

The size difference isn't much. Hendo probably walks around at 215, and a belly-less Fedor or a Fedor who cuts weight is easily a 205er.

This is going to be good.
I'm hoping its a catch weight that will see Fedor have to get smaller. His future in the sport may be at the 205 if he can't fight the super heavy wieghts any longer.

^^^ Not likely. Fedor absorbed big punches from guys like Antonio Silva and Brett Rodgers and never even looked dazed. Hendo can't hurt him.

Hendo could probably knock out a freakin' rhinoceros with his right hand.

Its just a matter if he can land it. I actually think this is a tough matchup for Fedor.
