Dream 17: Fight for Japan (05.29.2011)

Post#1 » by CPT » Tue May 17, 2011 12:32 pm

Just saw this card because of a story about Antonio McKee pulling out of a fight with Aoki because of "visa issues." Organizers are doubting his story because there's still so much time before the event.

Bantamweight Japan Tournament Semifinals
11. Imanari/Fujiwara vs. Osawa/Otsuka
10. Uenoyama/Yamamoto vs. Maeda/Tokoro

Single Fights
9. LW: Shinya Aoki vs. Antonio McKee
8. LW: Katsunori Kikuno vs. Daisuke Nakamura
7. FW: Caol Uno vs. Akiyo “Wicky” Nishiura
6. FW: Lion Takeshi vs. Koichiro Matsumoto
5. FW: Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Joachim Hansen

Bantamweight Japan Tournament Quarterfinals
4. Kenji Osawa vs. Takafumi Otsuka
3. Masakazu Imanari vs. Keisuke Fujiwara
2. Yoshiro Maeda vs. Hideo Tokoro
1. Darren Uenoyama vs. Atsushi Yamamoto

It's almost exclusively Japanese fighters, but the card looks awesome. The BW tournament is definitely something to watch.

Hansen vs. Ishida could be good. I like seeing Wicky and Kikuno fight as well. Would be kind of interesting to see Aoki vs. McKee if they can get those "visa issues" squared away. If not, I hope they find a live replacement.

I heard Sherwin-Williams is developing a new kind of paint that dries in fifteen minutes, they're calling it Aoki/McKee.

I'm actually surprised dream is having another event.

Hopefully they get around to paying their fighters this time.

McKee is awful, but I think Aoki is a lot of fun to watch.

McKee is out and (former TUF contestant) Shane Nelson is in for the fight against Aoki. You just knew they were not actually going to let Aoki fight someone with an actual chance at beating him.

I kinda like that fight.

Clementi hasn't exactly been tearing it up since he got ousted from the UFC, but he's solid.

oh cool. I like Rich a lot. he got triangle choked by a really young, inexperienced guy not too long ago. but I'm pretty sure that doesn't reflect his actual sub defense.

one of the reasons for the less than stellar record since leaving the UFC is a couple of short notice fill-ins of injured fighters.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

This Aoki fight just keeps getting more one sided. I like Clementi as much as the next guy who watched the UFC 4 years ago, but he has been losing pretty regularly on the local circuit lately and is clearly not the same fighter he once was. In his last 5 fights, he has lost 3 times to such juggernauts as Aaron Derrow, Reza Madadi, and Carey Vanier.

How is it possible that this is the best fight they can find for Aoki?

Match-up-wise, it's good. It's a good fight.

I thought McKee had an excellent chance at beating Aoki. It would not be pretty to watch, but he could definately lay and pray his way to victory. I don't see how Clementi wins this fight. After watching him lose to Vanier in Bellator, he did not look like the same dude who put a beating on Melvin Guilard.

I hope I am wrong though because I like Clementi and dislike Aoki.
