The savvy, tough, experienced vet against the wunderkid Jones.
I like.
As a Rashad fan, I feel like he's getting screwed a bit though. I think Davis may beat him

Rashad was dumb though for wanting to wait it out for almost a year. As for Jones vs Rampage...I'm excited but Jones will be too fast for Rampage like he was when he destroyed Shogun.

He still earned a title shot and they need to honour it down the line.

^ Tell that to Karo Parisyan.
Good fight though. I think Jones will win, but you can never really say "oh I think that guy is going to run through Rampage." It just doesn't happen.
I believe I heard something about this fight being on the Houston show October 8, which has a UFC Fan Expo scheduled around it. Unless Cain would be ready to go by then, I don't think there's a bigger drawing fight on the horizon (Cain vs. Dos Santos/Carwin might not even be a bigger draw anyway, come to think of it).

Matt Hughes vs Diego Sanchez is supposed to be on the card. Edgar/Maynard 3 has been linked to the event, but I can't imagine they'd have 2 title fights on a September card. Who knows.

An October date is possible. September and October should feature the lightweight and the light-heavyweight title fights. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the recoveries of Jones, Edgar and Maynard come along before anything's official.

I don't know of any fighter more exciting than Jones, but he really should stay away from any type of comedy or trash talk. That's not his thing.

The trash talk I agree with, it comes off as fake, but I find him to be a naturally funny guy. Watch the post-fight press conference of his after the Shogun fight. Genuinely funny stuff.

^ I thought he was so at ease in that presser that it was obnoxious.
Jones runs through Rampage.

If this was a focus, prime Rampage I'd be super pumped, but Rampage now has me just "meh" towards it. Seems Q just doesn't care anymore.

That's exactly what I said about Shogun.

The way he talks about Rashad, you wouldn't think they were "good friends" at all.

I'd much rather see Rashad vs. Jones and Rampage vs. Davis.

Was just looking at the rumors page on MMA Junkie, and there are some cool fights on this card that I didn't know about.
Champ Jon Jones vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (for light-heavyweight title)
Matt Hughes vs. Diego Sanchez
Damacio Page vs. Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto
Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi
Aaron Riley vs. Tony Ferguson
Mark Hunt vs. Ben Rothwell
Rob Broughton vs. Travis Browne
Diaz vs. Gomi and Page vs. Kid are both pretty good fights. I doubt I'm the only one that still gets excited about Gomi and Kid fights.
Will be interesting to see how Tony Ferguson does, especially since he is dropping to LW right away.
For some reason Hunt vs. Rothwell is still interesting to me, and Travis Browne is a pretty solid HW prospect.

Ya, it's going to be a solid two months of PPVs.
This one and the GSP one in late Oct are really good looking cards.

Agreed it's an awesome card.
I'm glad Aaron Riley is back too.

After watching the presser and seeing how much bigger Jones is than Rampage, it's gonna be a quick one.
Rampage laughing and joking while Jones was getting a little fired up, but kept his cool.
I predict a brutal, repeat BRUTAL knockout of Rampage ala Wandy-style in Pride.
See you later, Rampage.
