Does this mean he could be coming to the UFC?

Dunno.

I don't think so. It could be that Zuffa is pissed off that he chose to fight for another organization just after he pulled himself out of the fight with Big Foot Silva.

On the other hand, he's a marketing dream with that body and his past resume.

Dana is shrewd, I wouldn't be surprised, but your guess is as good as mine.

I guess some random dude broke this news on the UG yesterday. His newest rumors claim that Barnett may not continue in the tournament due to not being licensed for his old ped issues, and that Sergei may soon be cut due to that recent kickboxing fight he took. Werdum is on standby to re-enter.

The possibility of 5 of the 8 being out of the organization before the semifinals start is both sad and hilarious. And 2 of the remaining 3 lost in the first round. Congrats Big Foot?

I don't understand why Sergei doing kickboxing is such an issue if that is his contract. It was never an issue in the past, silly that it is now...

So much for Zuffa making Strikeforce more organized. What's sad is that all of the people that were holding Strikeforce back because of their incompetence except Scott Coker were let go a while ago. This is Zuffas mess now.

Seriously, this has to do with Zuffa being disorganized? LOL. What can't you blame them for?? Dana White is the new Zelig. He was there at the assassination of Ferdinand, the bombing of Hiroshima...

Strikeforce was always crapped on because they were disorganized and incompetent. But outside of Scott Coker, pretty much everyone who was a part of the disorganized Strikeforce got canned. I would like to point out that its Zuffa's employees that are running the show at Strikeforce now. That's my entire point. Don't be such a drama queen.

Zuffa didn't start this tournament, design this tournament, write these contracts, or sign these fighters. How exactly did they organize or disorganize this tournament?

Who knows what is rumor and what isn't, but the same guy who broke this news a day or two before everyone else said Overeem was cut due to clashing with zuffa. I wonder if part of it is over the not being signed to a contract through the tourney though, which would make it all sf's fault.

And although Sergei has not been cut, if he is, reportedly it will be due to taking that kickboxing match awhile back. Why would sf care about that now all the sudden if not for zuffa?

With that said, I guess zuffa is fighting hard to get Barnett cleared with the sac in order to fight. I have much more confidence in zuffa's ability to get that done than coker and the old sf regime.

Also, IF the licensing issues are true, whichever regime decided to have the event in a state that would have issues with Barnett obviously made a mistake (well, assuming they give a **** about Josh fighting in the tournament), while there are obviously some commissions that will clear him.

Take it for what its worth, but here's the latest from this guy on the underground: hammers hamill.

Effective immidietly zuffa will be sending over fighters to strikeforce too broaden its audience and appeal this is a last ditch effort to make the company profitable and rasie the company's awareness to the public... Strikeforce is mainly run by lorenzo ferttita and sean shelby with input from dana... Zuffa is monitoring the viewers for tonights show and are expecting the highest viewers on strikeforce mma on showtime ...

Also expect and lots of cuts to be happening over the next few months as strikeforce is trimming its operational costs and cant take all these guys it they eventually fold into the ufc... Lots of cuts coming.. M1 global has meetings set up with zuffa within the next 48 hrs to discuss fedors future within the company... Next week meeting are schedules with dan henderson to work on a new deal....

This just got uglier. Zuffa just release Einemo, V. Overeem, and Marloes Coenen. All 3 are Golden Glory fighters who train with Overeem.

i don't believe that crap for a second, to "broaden its audience and appeal." this is clearly a cheap attack on team golden glory for not being team players.

^^^^ That is just straight up bull$hit man. I can't believe Zuffa did this. I understand Overeem. The guy sucks and has no heart. But Jon Alav Emimo (however his name is spelled) actually made for an exciting fight in his lone UFC fight. He deserved another shot considering a turd like Joey Beltran is kept around for that reason and he doesn't have nearly the skill of Emino. And Marloes Coenen is one of the best female fighters in the sport. She was just champion of the division. How in the hell are they going to cut her?

Clearly Golden Glory did something to piss off the Zuffa brass. This kind of stuff is the concern of having Zuffa as the only game in town.

I copied this post off of Sherdog. So take it for what it is worth...

"Rumor on the UG was Sergei was closing to being cut as well, but they will keep him in the tourney, they may cut him win/lose after the tourney.

The reason is supposedly because Golden Glory is throwing a fight and used AO and Sergei as main card fighters even though AO pulled out from the sept fight. This is Zuffa upset about it and are cutting most GG fighters except Sergei solely because he already signed the contract for his next fight and isn't going to pull out. If he loses to Barnett expect him cut, if he wins the tourney he may stay but its no guarantee."
