New Moderator - CPT
Hey guys....I would like to welcome our new moderator, CPT.
He has been a quality poster on this board for quite some time, and I am happy to have him on board. This is one of the few places where you can actually find some have some decent discussion about MMA. God forgive me, but the Sherdog boards are a mess. This board is the most active board on the other sport boards by far, and it is fitting to have someone of CPT's knowledge being a moderator.

Re: New Moderator - CPT
Thanks Rasho. Thanks guys.
This is still the first place I go to discuss MMA, because I think the level of discussion is the best. Even though the board is pretty small, we have some very knowledgeable people here, and no shortage of opinions. With the way this board runs already, I don't anticipate having to make too many changes. For the most part, people on this board discuss things reasonably and don't let things get too out of hand. As the board continues to grow, my job will be to try to keep it that way, and I hope I can count on the regulars to continue to lead by example.
I have some ideas to help improve the board, mostly in terms of organizing and stickying threads. I want people to continue to post news, new fight announcements, etc in new threads as they see fit, just know that once everyone has a chance to get their two cents in, I may merge the thread with the official one for that event. I think it will be helpful to sticky the official thread for the next major event as well.
I'd appreciate feedback from the regular posters on ideas to improve the board and how to have it become more active as well.
All that being said, it's going to be "business as usual."

Congrats!
In regards to improving activity, I think this board will continue to populate as the sport becomes more popular every day. It's just a matter of time.

Congrats CPT, welcome to the dark side!
Sounds like you have some great ideas to improve the forum. It's great as is, just gets a little too cluttered at times with event discussions going on in two or three threads instead of one.
Sticking the most current event may help, but what I would suggest is what we have done on the soccer forum. Create a directory of all current events so people know where to go. One sticky is easier then changing the event thread every week or so.

Congrats man!
I agree with all the sentiments above me. This board is my favorite place to talk mixed martial arts because the quality of discussion is high and the people maintain their heads when talking. Even the more 'respected' mma sites out there have boatloads of terrible posters. No egos here. I think this board will continue to grow... good stuff.
and i also agree with LittleOzzy. Have a thread with all future mma events, so at any one time there will be something like 7-8 ufc cards, 2 strikeforce, 2 bellator, japanese mma, a rankings thread, prospects thread, standup/grappling technique discussions, etc.

Re: New Moderator - CPT
Thanks for the advice Ozzy. I'm just not sure there's enough going on in MMA to bother with a directory thread. I mean, that soccer one had links to over 30 threads, so it makes sense there, where we probably only would have 5 or 6 going at any given time. I'll keep it in mind as the board continues to grow, or we get more official threads, but right now I just want to make sure the upcoming/most recent event thread is easy to find.

Congrats man! Glad this board is busy enough to warrant a second moderator. It's my only source for MMA really.

Re: New Moderator - CPT
I just spent the last few hours on Sherdog and maaaaan oh man. Agree with most here, this is one of the few places worthy of a regular visit for MMA discussion. I have probably twice as many posts in here just over the past year over the life of my Sherdog account I opened in 2008. There's not a lot of bickering (though when it happens it's usually entertaining), differing opinions are explained and respected, we welcome new members, and it's not overmoderated. Lots of worldwide representation too, so we get occasional notes on the Canadian, Brazilian, and Asian markets from the frontlines.
I wish we had a few more regular members though.

no offense to CPT but this is the fighting board
if you want to become mod you should have to fight one of the elder mods and take his spot otherwise what's the point of this place might as well be knitting skirts and drinking camomile tea

I actually wonder how many people have been a real fight or have some real background in MMA/boxing... I always get the impression that the people who talk so much **** are the one who are the type who punches and runs away like a bitch which I find abundant on other boards.
