MMA Betting Thread
Not sure if against the TOS, but we should have somewhere to put in any betting inquiries and suggestions and discussion.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
I've been asking around for new betting site suggestions to use lately. I used to use sportsbook.com but 1) they lost my documentation for withdrawal, and it was a huge hassle trying to get it fixed, and 2) no mma parlays. Timing couldn't have been worse either, considering how many underdogs on the last event I wanted action on.
Everyone here seems to use bodog. I'm leaning towards that direction. Their odds seem to be worse than other sites is the crappy part, so I was also considering 5dimes, although I read a complaint or two about their withdrawal process...Ugh.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
sportsinteraction is what i've been using for years now.
Partybets was pretty good too, but it's 10 bucks to withdraw so I can scrapped that one.
BTW: Change it to MMA Odds thread. I don't think it's against the TOS to discuss odds.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
Its against the tos to have betting threads? There used to be huge ones on their Bucks board and nobody ever cared, and our mod is global. Weird.

Im pretty sure they had to take one down in the football section.
Maybe not though. I could be wrong.

Do any of you dudes know of a place where you could bet on KSW, Dream, or MFC, or basically any non-Bellator/Zuffa events?

Bodog has odds up for the Huerta/War Machine fight, but only as a single. Weird.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
Sportsinteraction used to put up odds for Japanese/other events from time to time, but they were always super late and you couldn't count on them being there.
I think most of the sportsbooks have probably realized that putting up relatively unknown MMA odds is not a good way for them to make money. Only people who know the sport better than the oddsmakers will be betting.

I kind of just assumed War Machine was just totally incapacitated at this point.

I used to use BetUS, I liked it but haven't tried anything else. You had to deposit 100$ at a time though, which I didn't really like. Is everywhere like that?

Bodog is $20, which is why I signed up there. I'm neutered at home, so I'm not allowed to play with large sums of (my!) money.

Lines are up for the maincard on Bodog. Hominick is at -500 (blech) but the rest of the lines are very good.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
Does bodog have withdrawal fees (I don't mind withdrawing once a month or whatever).
The withdrawal fees/minimums on the other sites I was considering are absurd.

They have two options... One free check per month ($50 per additional check) or $50 per bank transfer.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
I use 5 Dimes to bet MMA. I haven't checked, but I consistently heard that they have better odds than Bodog for fights. The big fights get posted months in advance, co-main events are usually posted way in advance, bigger fights are often posted weeks before, but some of the lesser prelims aren't posted until kind of close to fight day.
I like doing parlays with MMA even though they're considered a "house gimmick". It seems to work with fighting because there are so many sizable favorites and linking three of them together can give you a 1:1 payout. I like to place my biggest bets on "safe" parlays. Miocic/Dillashaw/Ellenberger paid out 1.3:1, Poirier/Riddle/Brown was 1:1, Sonnen/Dunham/Oliviera was .9:1.
Chiming in on CPT & SDM's posts in the Reem/JDS thread:
I think betting on a big underdog is like giving money to the casino. Unless I knew something that nobody else did, I'd probably never lay real money on a +500 type of fight. Likewise, laying big money on a -500 is tough as well because the risk:reward is so skewed. A -500 won't be a big boon to a parlay, but it certainly helps.
Anything at +200 or greater pays double+ for a reason. Lavar Johnson at +165, Lauzon at +180, Bader at +200, and even Little Nog at +225 aren't bad bets, but try finding anything that's +300 or greater that you feel good about. That's Sakara/Stann territory.
I always try to remember that successful gamblers grind out their profits. They don't make risky bets.
Anyways, those are some of my thoughts on MMA betting.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
I bet money comes in on Edgar as we get closer to the fight and the line grows again. It's probably a good time to bet on him.
I already mentioned them above, but I like Lavar Johnson (+165), Joe Lauzon (+180), and Ryan Bader (+200) as live dogs.
Johnson overwhelmed the smaller Beltran (first guy to KO him) and I wouldn't be surprised to see him KO Barry.
I still think Pettis is overrated and the UFC is trying to sell him. He got smothered by Guida and almost blew it against Stephens (I wouldn't have had a problem with Stephens winning that fight). Lauzon hasn't done well against top flight competition, but he's a really tough out and his confidence has to be riding high after the Guillard win.
I question just how motivated Rampage will be heading into this fight. He's not going to get another title shot and he's just in it for the money at this point. I think he'd be happier if the UFC gave him cans to knock out. Bader is motivated and looked sharp against Brilz. Rampage has good TD defense but Bader wants this fight more.

Re: MMA Betting Thread
How does he withdrawal system work with 5dimes? I've heard it isn't really a place for small time betters which is what I am.
As for Pettis/Lauzon, I'm curious about your take there. Maybe I am a homer due to him being my hometown guy, but I don't see Lauzon finishing Pettis in the first round, and we all know after that Lauzon will gas/fade, leaving him ripe for Anthony to pick, imho.
