And you for the UFC, sir. :)

Alvarez/Chandler was objectively better. It had two completed comebacks, was much more technical, and had only one round of one of the fighter's gassing. I basically knew the outcome of Shogun-Hendo after 3 rounds, it had zero completed comebacks, both guys gassed for multiple rounds, and was a sloppy brawl. People are only picking that as better because they actually saw it live, it was associated with the UFC, involved biggers guys, and the fighters had more mystique around them. Even with the latter three factors, most of those who saw it live thought Alvarez-Chandler was the better fight. I watched both live with a couple buddies and that was their assessment as well. Just watched the MMA show roundtable on youtube, and Straka was the only one who saw it live on TV, and he said Alvarez-Chandler was better also. People who didn't see BOTH fights live are in no position to judge. I'm an MMA fan so I watched both fights live.

I can't decide.

Shogun/Hendo was amazing because it was a 5 round war and a very anticipated fight with two men with iron jaws fighting their hearts out.

Alvarez/Chandler was more technical, a title changed hands, and there was a finish which I personally value.

Don't know if there is a loser here.

What, I had to argue against it for comparison's sake. It was a really good fight, but maybe the most overrated thing ever in the history of MMA.

For this poll I went with Edgar Maynard also... Chandler Alvarez was great too though. I think the scope of the fight with Edgar Maynard gives them the nod to me... but strictly on a better fight analysis, I'd probably say Chandler Alvarez was better... still close though.

But for me atleast, fight of the year was Aldo vs Hominick

The that fact you're trying your hardest to trash the Shogun-Hendo fight is ruining your objectivity here.. You knew the outcome after 3 rounds, really? Zero completed comebacks? LOL are you really going to discredit Shogun's 4rth and 5th rounds like that? People who didn't see the fight live are in NO position to judge? Huh?? I guess I can never comment on Bellator fights then because I can't watch it on TV.. You're the most biased person in this thread with that post.

I'm an MMA fan so I watched both fights live

Nice touch, I'm pretty sure we're all MMA fans here, this isn't sherdog.

Does anyone think Shogun/Hendo becomes a better fight if it were declared a draw or if Shogun had won outright?

I kinda do.

A draw would've been fitting for sure. I think that would cement it's legacy as greatest fight of all time. I mean, I still think it's the GOAT, but I don't think it would even be debatable had it officially been declared a draw.

I really enjoyed Penn/Diaz.

But, I try to watch all the MMA I can, and there were so many to choose from.

I really enjoyed Penn/Diaz as well, though it became quite one-sided. I actually prefer Edgar/Maynard III to Edgar Maynard II and think it should be considered for fight of the year.

The fight had a spectacular finish that hardly anyone expected, rather than a draw or even a decision. It featured a smaller fighter coming back from deja vu adversity and showing tremendous heart and technical boxing. It was also the conclusion of a trilogy of fights and IMO the most epic of all three.

^ I would certainly put it ahead of Sanchez/Kampmann (don't really remember that fight being all that good...may need to watch it again) and probably Guida/Bendo (I thought it was good, but I always thought the FOTY candidate talk about it was a bit much).
