Wish Kenny good health. Really good fighter, who could never win the title(some elite opponents though), fought in 4 weight classes. Always a gamer.

Sharpest elbows in the game!

Anyway, not surprising. He was never going to win a title. He's a pretty bright guy, will probably purse some sort of media role and/or coach.

Hellbows!

Much respect to Kenny.

Unbelievable that he started at light heavyweight and made a cut to 145 in his last fight against Aldo for the belt.

I can't think of too many other guys that fought at some many different weights.

I will miss his brother's awesome "motivational" yells from the corner.

Back injury or not, Kenflo should have packed her in. Even Dana said his last title shot was likely his last shot... If you can't fight for/win the title at any weight class, then why are you fighting? Especially when he's a guy who could easily slide seamlessly into the broadcast booth. He'd be great as a Larry Merchant type or even as just a third anaylytical voice alongisde Goldy and Rogan.

Scoured net, I was wrong.

Dang, I would've bet money that he had some fight, somewhere at LHW.

My mistake, I guess his highest weight was MW.

Still, pretty impressive for a guy to be able to fight in that many classes.

No doubt, Kenny had some of the nastiest elbows.

He said on the original tuf that he was a natural lw.

And tbh he didn't even look that drawn at 145.

Good, but not great fighter.

Would have liked to see him continue, but if he's having health issues, it makes sense to get out somewhat early.

He could have slid into a top-tier gatekeeper role, similar to what Clay Guida is now. And then you never know, string a few wins together and he could find himself with another title shot. Obviously Dana is going to say no more title shots after he loses, but things could change.

Would have loved to see fights against Cerrone, Diaz, Pettis, etc. Even guys like Edgar, Bendo, Melendez, Alvarez would have made for good fights.

Ah well.

I'm guessing he reunites with Jon Anik and does the Fuel broadcasts (or is it FX?).

He was doing a lot of commentating and stuff, so I assume he'll prob do that and prob help coach fighters as well.

I said this in the other thread that somehow turned into a discussion of commentary teams.

While MMA may not require a traditional play-by-play man the way other sports do, having two analysts with nobody else to bridge the gap (part of which is asking dumb questions) may not work as well as you would think.

I wouldn't mind a 3 man booth to cut down on Goldberg, but they won't (and shouldn't) get rid of him altogether.

Awesome. Think maybe they bring in a 3rd, Gus Johnson ? No longer works for CBS, now works for Fox.

The UFC has more sense than that. Hopefully Fox does too. Johnson is awful. Besides, if they do add a 3rd, it will be another colour guy. Couture, Mir, Bonnar, someone like that. Having two PBP guys is a recipe for disaster.

Anik PBP, Florian colour commentary is a good set up. Helps that they've worked together before.

Nope. Your opinion is factually incorrect.

Gus Johnson is awful for MMA. He's good for big calls in football and basketball.

Mauro to me is like Schiavello without the accent. Has a pro wrestling style, for better or worse. I'm not the biggest fan, but I don't think he's the worst. He knows the sport at least. In Strikeforce he's been forced out of his comfort zone by putting another PBP guy on the team. Having to work with Frank Shamrock probably doesn't help either. I don't remember people hating on him much in Pride.

Fair enough, I like Gus, you like Mauro. I can't stand Mauro's voice.
