And I saw this addressed somewhere else, but I wanted to second it.
If Montreal is considered an advantage for GSP's performance, does that mean Vegas is an advantage for the American fighter? Nope.
GSP has more American fans than maybe any other fighter, and he's a Canadian.
I can see the argument with other fighters, but Georges truly is the sport's biggest name. (At least now that the Big Guy from South Dakota has gone back farmin' way.)

Wonder if GSP will show any ring rust.
Also I think its a little unfair to American fans that he's always on Canadian cards.
Last two fights were in Canada. That will be 3 straight in Canada.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/mma/2012/07/19/ ... _montreal/The Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed Thursday that Georges St-Pierre will defend his welterweight title at UFC 154 in Montreal in November.
UFC president Dana White said during the UFC 149 pre-fight press conference, and later confirmed to Sportsnet, that the Canadian superstar is healthy and, barring injury, will be ready for UFC 154.

All the reports I heard as of a month or two ago (Bones vs Rashad card) was that GSP was still limping heavily.
I'm hoping that 1) he didn't rush his rehab, and 2) he recovers fully and doesn't lose any athleticism.

I usually root for Americans, especially in title fights, but I won't this time.
As a Bulls fan I'm rooting for GSP to make a quick and strong recovery from his ACL tear. As a MMA fan, I'm still pissed at Condit for putting on one of the most boring fights I have ever seen during a fight that was advertised as "fight of the year."
“As long as I am breathing, as long as I am conscious, I am coming for him. You know, they are going to have to carry me out of that octagon.”
“I’m coming to fight. I expect a war. Nick’s a warrior and we are going to step in there and get after it from bell to bell until one of us doesn’t move anymore.”
“I finally get to get in there and not hold back and just let it go.”
“I am trying to make it so the ref has to jump in and save your life.”
“I tell myself to keep my hands up and my chin down and go out there and bury this mother ****.”
“I love to fight, plain and simple. I would do it for free if I could not make a living doing it.”
“I have the skills and abilities to take Nick Diaz out.”
“I am a warrior, that’s what I am. I always knew I was.”
“I am dying to get in there and fight, I cannot wait.”
“Carlos Condit is coming to finish you.”

Want to see a boring fight? Go watch Guida/Maynard again. Condit was not running from Diaz at all. Running is what Guida did vs Maynard.

Condit was running from Diaz...while magically outstriking him. He must be a gifted runner. Maybe if Diaz wasn't baked, he could have caught him.

Quebec in general has a large and established MMA market and GSP fighting in his home town is a top news story for several days. That plays a factor.

What do Guida and Condit have in common? They were both following the exact same gameplan by the exact same coach. Yeah, Condit outstruck Nick, but that's because he set the record for most legkicks in a fight. Legkick, run away. Legkick, run away. I put some blame on Nick for not catching a legkick and going to a takedown earlier than round 5, but it's got to be hard to catch someone after your leg has been kicked more times than anyone else's has in the cage. A man kicking another man's leg and then running away in my mind does not count as a way to win a fight. I'm not even arguing that Diaz should have won the fight. I'm arguing that the fight was boring and is bad for the sport. If you're going to follow a boring gameplan, then don't lie to me and hype the fight as the fight of the year. You care more about getting a win than pleasing the fans? That's fine. You might get the win, but you won't get me as a fan.

Hominick should win comfortably, finally getting on track after 3 straight losses.

Hominick played it way too safe in his last fight. He got scared of another flash KO. I just hope he comes out and does what he's used it.

Philippou vs Nick Ring announced. There's something about Philippou I can't pin-point but every time I watch him I feel as if he's on the brink of turning into a monster of a fighter.
