I never thought of Arona, but I still have Jose Aldo as the best the right now.

Aldo throws that hook to the body and then dead legs the kick and ducks out, it's nice.

I'm trying to think of finishes from low kicks. See it kickboxing all the time. Just Cro Cop vs Yoshida in MMA? That skinny guy from TUF doesn't count.

Brandon Vera used to have pretty good ones. I seem to remember him TKOing someone or coming damn close via low kicks.

Edson Barboza did so recently. He's a guy that came to mind immediately.

For some reason I want to say Pat Barry did as well. Don't know if his are in the running for the best in MMA, but best at HW, sure.

Anyone fighting Rampage seems to have pretty good leg kicks.

Pat Barry has several iirc. Did Cerrone finish some guy (Rocha?) with leg kicks, or did he just brutalize him with them and get the tko some other other?

Machida is underrated too. Sokodju has two leg kick TKOs, the one on Nakamura was nasty.

Maybe not the best, but I wouldn't want a shin to shin blast from Belcher.

Bas Rutten as well.

Carlos Condit did set the record for most leg kicks in a round...

Cerrone landed some nasty ones on Nate in their fight, and I remember Tony Ferguson DESTROYING "trash bag Charlie " with them in the semi-finals of TUF.

Just racking my brain for leg kick tko's: Didn't Bas have one in the fight where he randomly returned to mma?

True, against Warpath. Warpath was in there on like 20 minutes notice and was real unskilled.

Yea, I've literally never seen announcers more biased than that fight. Kept saying "watch this" implying Bas was about to have an epic knock out or flying gogo or something. But Bas didn't look good at all.

whatever happened to Arona? he had a couple losses to top guys in Pride and disappeared to the beaches of Rio after the Sokoudjou fight... he was a fun fighter.

back in the day Pedro Rizzo was a monster with low kicks. Overeem uses them very well to set up other combos too. just watch that 15 second fight with Duffee. it was a thing of beauty.

but in terms of pure devastation, i don't think there is a stronger low kicker than Melvin Manhoef.

Manhoef and Rizzo, yeah.

There were rumors of Arona signing with the UFC - he'd been training, looked super buff, but it never got done. White publicly said nice things.

I doubt Lawler walked for weeks after facing Manhoef (then again, does Manhoef eat solid foods anymore after Lawler's KO?).

There is just no way Arona is still good. Its been like 17 years haha. I guess Hunt is though so who knows.

Arona is apparently rolling in cash from some of his business endeavors in Brazil. If he comes back, it won't be for money.

Lawler insisted he was walking fine the next day.

Either a crazy lie or years and years of kickboxing have conditioned his leg to feel nothing.

One of my fave fights ever.

That's crazy, he looked like Gumby in there at the time.

Also, anyone remember Faber posting pics of his legs after the Aldo fight? Pretty messed up.
