Easily the two most iconic boxers ever and two of the top 10 heavyweights ever.
So how would a prime Mike Tyson, circa 1988, fare against a prime Muhammad Ali?

Its hard to say. The easy guess would be to say Ali thoroughly outboxes him but a prime Tyson had a mix of speed and explosive power that would make him a huge threat. That man could friggin punch.

How would have a Mike Tyson in his prime have done against a George Foreman in his prime? If you can answer that, then you can speculate how Tyson would have done against Ali when both in their primes. Ali past his prime KO'd Foreman in his prime by enduring the giant's best shots till he tired in the heat and became vulnerable. Foreman hit about as hard as a heavyweight ever has. Certainly as hard as Tyson.
That's the thing about Tyson and Foreman early in their careers through their primes. They rarely if ever went deep into fights against better skilled and more elusive boxers.
Anything can happen in a fight with two great boxers in their primes. A prime-time, Sonny-Liston-Ali (Clay) would be hard to bet against fighting a Tyson in his prime, methinks.

Yeah, I think a prime Ali would beat a prime Tyson. Foreman and Frazier hit Ali with bombs, and he managed to survive. The keys for Ali would be his size, reach, footwork and jab. I think in the end, that would be enough to overcome the bulldog Tyson was in his prime.
