UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar (Feb. 2nd)

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/10/24/3 ... super-bowlBrazil's SporTV is reporting that former UFC Light Heavyweight champ Rashad Evans and Brazilian legend Antonio "Little Nog" Rogerio Nogueira have verbally agreed to a bout to be held on February 2, 2013 on Super Bowl weekend. The UFC traditionally runs a big card in Las Vegas that weekend. Presumably it could be UFC 156 but that is assuming that there will not be a numbered UFC event in January following UFC 155 on December 29, 2012.

Not the most exciting fight in the world, but they both needed a fight and most 205ers already have fights lined up.

I really think Rashad wins by TKO.
Rashad is just too much for Nog imo.
This should set him up with the winner of either Shogun/Gus or Machida/Hendo.

This is very underwhelming if it's the main event for the superbowl weekend.
I see Rashad winning via UD in a rather boring, predictable fight.

Yeah, would be a pretty sorry main event for an event that is usually one of their biggest.
Not even sure what else could be there though. Do Aldo/Edgar and Machida/Hendo have dates yet? Cruz/Barao? Mighty Mouse/Dodson? Can't really see them booking the last two as Super Bowl Weekend main events, but at least they are title fights, and good ones at that.

Edgar/Aldo looks to be on tap for UFC 156 in Brazil, this event will probably become UFC 157.

I like the fight. I mean I don't think it will be the most exciting. But I don't really like that thing they sometimes do where they put the guy coming off a title shot in a fight with the or a top contender. I feel like that puts the guy coming off the shot in an awkward spot and all too often leaves room for too soon rematches if that guy wins (with a top contender being bucked off, too boot). So in that regard, good matchmaking. I wish Rashad had decided to go to 185 just to change it up, but if he is set on 205 then I don't see too many guys without a fight that would have been better.

Heard a rumour that Diego Sanchez may make his LW debut on this card.
Maybe Cerrone?

Cerrone and Pettis is pretty much a go I think.

^ Yeah? That's amazing news.
I was under the impression Pettis was out of order for a while?
If that is true, that has potential for FOTY.
So, how about Diego vs Tj Grant? That could be a barnburner.

Well, to me, Cerrone should just wait it out for this fight.
He was the one that chirped Pettis and he should wait for this fight.
At this point, I don't want Cerrone to fight Diaz or Henderson for obvious reasons, if he beat's Pettis, then there's room to talk.
Still digging Grant vs Sanchez....now I'm thinking about it.

He fought at 155 against Guida and BJ.

Okay, fine, his return to 155.
Yes, I know.

Diego is a perfect example of a guy who I stereotypically wouldn't like at all (the other being BJ Penn), but I just love.
His interview witrh Ariel on the mma hour awhile back was amazing. The guy is just so crazy but so awesome.

His comeback in the 3rd against Ellenberger just proved again that heart is an intangible that is SO important.
The times in sports I have seen Average Joe with balls of steel win over Mr. Genetic Athlete is just beautiful.
BJJ was developed on this very premise. Technique and position can beat size and strength.
I know Sanchez lost the fight, but I really appreciated it.
Diego is in for it at LW now though. It is insane stacked and with his name, he'll only get studs.
Agreed though Redd, he is a guy who deserves love from the fans.

We'll see how he does at lightweight man. I realize its a sharktank, but then again so is welterweight. Diego isn't getting subbed, and if he can take everything Jake Ellenberger has, I doubt he gets KOed at lw either, and we both know he's going to be in every single fight til the end.
I feel like lw has less wrestlers that can stay on their feet against him, whereas ww is wrestlerheavy at top, and his striking sucks.
I wouldn't mind him at ww with a speed advantage but he's just been coming in pudgy which isn't good for his game. If the choice is between pudgy ww Diego or ripped lw Diego, the latter is preferable in my mind.

I'm sure A LOT of people will disagree with me but I think Diego should have stayed in San Diego.

Diego that walked in the cage to face BJ, pre-disgusting cut stoppage and spirit-breaking is who needs to come back down the aisle when he does *return to 155.
He looked healthy, trim, motivated and with that great cardio he always had.
Pudgy Diego was pudgey-pudge.

Pudgy 170 Diego when he was murdering Riggs... that's my favourite Diego.
