WOW. I hope he's alright mentally. The loss of his trainer/best friend might have hit him even harder than we thought.

Ya i'm a little surprised to hear this news too, though not entirely taken aback.

He's suffered some tough losses. My guess is he knows he's probably going to be cut from the UFC and he didn't want to keep fighting in smaller promotions to try and make a living. He will probably slide full-time into coaching at his gym in London there and spend his off-time at home with his new daughter and young family etc.

So long Machine, you are one of my favourite fighters and I'm going to miss those vicious body shots. Happy trails sir.

Huge fan.

From my neck of the woods, Southwestern Ontario, and just always game and down to fight.

Losing his coach really affected him, and he's never been the same in his fights.

Hopefully he can start coaching, or get a TV gig with Sportsnet or TSN here in Toronto, because he's a valuable resource for MMA and combat sports in Canada.

Also, still remember a NA Kickboxing champion telling me about how in the early 2000's, he came up to Toronto to train here and there and cleaned out gyms, and also that he had such technical and precise form when striking.

I kind of put him in the Chris Lytle zone, and I mean that with the highest of respects.

He was fun to watch and seemed to have been a nice guy.

He'll probably regroup and be back in a year, like every mma fighter ever.
