Was Cormier vs. Barnett really a top 5 fight of the year? I don't remember it that way, but I kind of don't remember it at all.

The scary thing about that KZ/Poirier fight is that, man, Poirier is really really good. KZ had an answer for everything it seems.

There were some really, really exciting first round back and forth winner-almost-gets-finished-himself finishes this year, more than I can remember in prior years.

I feel like every fight John Albert was in was short but amazing.

At least Jorgensen and Menjivar for sure.

Zombie-Poirier is my favorite UFC fight ever I think. KZ had a solid overall edge, but Poirier was always in it, there were constant swings of momentum, the pace was high, and the number of techniques displayed were amazing. It was a pretty easy choice for me.

Seeing Poirier get rocked by Brookins doesn't give me great faith in his chin. No idea. Toss up for me.

Gonna re-watch a few of these today.

Cormier did beautiful, beautiful work in that Barnett fight. Maybe the best display of movement in 2012. But I don't remember there being backandforth. Then again, to have two skilled heavyweights in the cage together is a real novelty.

Cormier is a machine man. What heavyweights are better wrestlers than Cormier? What heavyweights are better BOXERS than him?

He may be the best fighter in the world, not p4p.

I thought Bendo/Edgar 2 was better than the first fight

Not on the list but I really enjoyed the Pat Berry and Kongo fight just the way it played out.

There's no way that was even close to this year, unless I'm going crazy.

edit: Just checked, it was June 2011. Good fight though.
