5 Flyweights That Need To Be In The UFC

Post#1 » by Cammo101 » Sat Jun 22, 2013 4:09 am

If the UFC is serious about continuing to grow the Flyweight division, they really need to add the following 5 guys...

1. Joshua Sampo - The highest ranked Flyweight not currently in the UFC. Sampo is ranked as high as 3rd in the division on some lists. Coming off back to back victories over Antonio Banuelos and Alexis Villa.

2. Sergio Pettis - Undefeated 19 year old brother of Anthony Pettis is the best prospect in the entire division.

3. Dileno Lopes - 12-0 rising star from Brazil, Lopes has the talent to be a UFC champion in the division at some point.

4. Zach Makovsky - The former Bellator Bantamweight champ has made the successful drop to Flyweight. This guy was a super tough wrestler at 135 pounds, and is certainly UFC caliber at 125 pounds.

5. Jose Maria Tome - There has been a long line lately of Brazilian prospects coming out of nowhere with crazy good records and tearing up the UFC (Renan Barao, Yuri Alcantara, Hacran Dias). The 33-3 Jose Maria Tome might be the Flyweight version of that in the UFC.

Why did bellator drop Makovsky? To make room for War Machine or what? I don't get it.

Makovsky asked to be released from Bellator. I think he was upset at how little he was getting to fight.

Why are you stating things you don't know about as fact?

The reality is he was disappointed Bellator released him. He lost a couple fights, Bellator thought he was overpaid, he wouldn't take another pay cut, after he initially did I believe, so they released him. It's been a blessing in disguise because it allowed him to drop to flyweight, but at the time he wasn't happy getting released, let alone did he ask for it.

I said "I think he was upset at how little he was getting to fight". That is not starting a fact, if it was, the "I think" part would clearly not be there.

You have a serious Bellator inferiority complex.

This one intrigues me because of those guys you mentioned, Brazilian scouting is rock solid... Markes too... the only lofty record Brazilian I can think of that flopped recently is Falcao, but that's mostly a mental thing.
