Bader juiced to the gills, judging by the weigh-ins. CRAZY upper back/trap development...and bacne.

This is the shallowest card they've ever had but it's hard to complain considering it's their third event in 8 days and we're under no obligation to watch those prelims. Two fights deep.

Joe B is in a squash match.

Bagautinov is a world sambo champion... he interests me. But yeah, none of the Brazilian guys seem to be worldbeaters... Silverino might be something, but he's a short notice WW fighting at MW.

Lucas Martins put on an exciting fight last time, but he's meh. Rafael Natal fights in slow motion. Trinaldo is imposing, but I'm not sure if he's good or not.

I'll probably watch about six of these fights.

So Bader's on the roids? He might actually have a chance.

IDK if this is a stupid question or not. But when someone says a guy is a sambo world champion, is that usually referring to sport or combat sambo?

Also thanks for the heads up on the time, that gives me enough notice to pick the 5 fights that contain fighters that I am aware of, and then some more time to rank the fighters that I don't know (most likely based on betting odds).

IDK why but Glover just doesn't do it for me. Don't really get pumped for his fights at all.

I'm somewhat surprised Glover is such a huge favourite over Bader.

I would definitely place a small bet on Bader as a dog (+375) if my account were up and running.

I considered picking Bader straight up in the pool, but ended up going safe with Glover, and just ranking him a bit lower. Saw him in peoples' top 3 picks a lot.

I've been higher on Glover before, and not so high on Bader, but Bader has fought much better competition. Bader might be able to ring off 15-20 straight fighting guys without wikipedia pages. Specific to the matchup, I think I actually see clearer paths to victory for Bader. Glover has a good chin, but I remember him getting hit a lot in his UFC fights, and Bader (especially a roided up version) has some power in his hands. I have to think the wrestling advantage is heavily in Bader's favour as well.

I mean, part of me still expects Glover to win, because I have this impression that he's the better fighter, but when I think about it, I'm not quite sure why.

Someone set me straight and make the case for Glover.

I think Glover is faster on the feet and his MMA wrestling is about equal, especially his ground and pound. Statistically, if you care about those things, he lands more strikes per minute than Bader, has better TD and TDD %s. Bader's not all that active of a fighter and outside of the overhand right, I don't think his offense is diverse enough or technical enough to keep Glover off guard. Bader lands only 43% of his TDs... hardly a dominant wrestler should he find himself outgunned on the feet.

I'm like you guys... I think he's a good fighter, but I'm not sure how good. I see definite holes in his game, striking defense and cardio especially, that he's been able to plug up by being such a violent, offense-first fighter. But he's never fought someone as good, experienced, and well-rounded as Bader in the UFC. Te Huna has no grappling, Fabio lacks skill/killer instinct, Kingsbury's a big stiff, and Rampage spams hooks all day and doesn't check leg kicks. Bader won't be scared, Bader will be confident in his abilities, and Bader's not looking for a paycheck.

As much as I can't shake the image of Fabio rocking Glover from my brain, I can't shake the image of Bader foolishly running into Machida's fist either.

A half dead Fabio Maldanado almost ktfo Glover. Bader doing it isn't beyond the realm of possibility. I favor Glover but 4:1 favorite? Nah. And to be fair, I've never really liked watching or thought Bader was a world beater ever.

If Jacare/Okami wasn't on this card, it may be the first I skip watching since 09. Oh, and if this card is filled with KOs and subs and is super exciting, it won't change my sentiment.

I think the next guy to beat Glover will unfortunately have to sustain a beating for a couple rounds/be much, much better from the onset.

So basically Jones and Evans, I guess. I don't see any of the old guard at 205 knocking him off... they're all beatable now and some are quite chinny and can't handle beatings for that long. Gus, Bader, and Davis, IMO, are the wildcards... they're younger, "trained in MMA", and they've already done the ex-Pride circuit.

8:30-ish, it looks to be the third last fight of the night.

Jacare leading from the outset and finishing Okami, would bring me as much or more joy than Mendes doing it to Guida over the weekend. Okami is almost as bad of a sticky wrestler/point fighter as Guida, while conversely Jacare gets after it. Good must prevail, again. Let's weed all these sticky wrestlers/point fighters out of the game like Volkmann, Fitch, Askren, Guida, Okami, Shields, Markes, etc.

Half of Okami's wins are by finish. There's a difference between fighting like Guida, and using your wrestling in a fight.
