Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
Anybody know a round about time the GGG/Canelo fight will start? 10:30? Just curious about the main event.

Super close fight. I had it 7-5 GGG but anybody winning with almost any score would be acceptable. Even Adelaide Byrd couldn't mess this one up.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
You could certainly make the case that this fight was a draw. Even moreso than their original fight. I was heading that way and wasn't happy with that so I had to pick somebody. GGG was strong from about round 8 on so he got the nod imo.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
Triple G got robbed again, he won the fight by a little, if anything they should of just made it another draw. This is the 4th time they gave Canelo a win when he should've lost the fight, boxing is clearly trying to protect their cash cow.

I don't think Golovkin got robbed. I could have seen that fight going either way or being a draw. What irks me is this fight was closer than the last fight, but last time it was a draw.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
It wasn't a robbery. I had I had it 7-5 for GGG but some of those rounds were real toss ups. With one toss up it could mean 6-6 draw and two toss ups going the other way could easily mean 7-5 for Canelo. It's just super close and I don't think it would've been wrong to have given it to Canelo ie not a robbery. Two judges had it 7-5 for Canelo and one had it a draw. It's pretty much as close as you can get for the W.
But I agree with the general sentiment that the 1st fight should've been a clear W for GGG and this one made a stronger case for it to be a draw.
All I know for a fact is that it was a great fight from two of the best ever at MW

That's the thing, last fight was a clear W for GGG but they give it a draw, this fight was a clear tie but they give it to Canelo, alot of cheating with boxing. They know Canelo is the bigger money draw with his big Mexican fan base, it's all BS politics that's ruining the sport really bad and it sucks for real fans like us. This is like the 4th time I've seen the fight go Canelo's way when it shouldn't of have, it kind of made me not like that guy now. I don't see Canelo beating the bigger Charlo or that Jaime guy that fought before him . Caenlo's time will come and GGG is still undefeated in my book. Sucks.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
I get what you mean. I scored it a win for GGG in the first one but it ended up being a draw which I wasn't up in arms at until I saw the Byrd score card. But this fight in isolation I had it a win for GGG but could've saw a draw too so I'm less mad about this result I suppose.

Canelo was the better fighter. I thought, pretty clearly. His reflexes were on in terms of countering until about the midfight. Then he managed to keep things competitive with aggression and better conditioning.
Cot dam, what a fight.

HW boxing since Toney retired is the **** worst. That was probably an above average fight. But these guys are just such a fraction of the mechanical masters 130-175 has.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
Also, why would the ref let things continue after the first KD? Povetkin FELL BACK DOWN through the ropes, first of all. That's necessarily the end of the fight. You can't fall back down. And his coach touched him, multiple times while Povetkin was through the ropes. Grabbing his gloves and his head. That's also the end of the fight. Third, he was clearly effed up and unfit to continue.

HBO Boxing is kaput after 45 years, HBO Sports head Peter Nelson announced Thursday morning. He did say, however, that if a fight were big enough and there was open bidding for it, HBO would consider it. But as a regular broadcaster of fights, it's done. Jim Lampley will remain on its HBO Sports platforms.

ANyone listen to Teddy Atlas on Rogan?
An hour in:
[Still grudged to Tyson] Whether Tyson's rape conviction was legit, he had definitely done some similar, bad ****.
LOL @ Rogan calling Errol Spence "articulate". Euphemism for, "one of the good ones". Spence isn't particularly well-worded even. Just sort of quiet-spoken.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
Screw Eubank Jr. for criticizing that guy. He explicitly said that he was just keeping the guy around to finish him later. The guy was there to "give him rounds" for an easy win. In which case he's outright admitting it's not a competition or competitive...in which case, it's no longer a sport, it's just a beating, and the guy ought to just call it off. Also, Eubank didn't just want rounds, he also wanted to humiliate McD...which is why he stood over him like an ***hole after the KD.
If you're just looking for good honest work and expecting the guy to go out on his shield, then don't mean mug a KD'd opponent.

Benavidez should've never pushed Crawford at the weigh-in.

I listened and enjoyed the podcast. I think it's pretty clear he was exaggerating some of his stories but I definitely liked listening to him tell them.

What a POS Crawford's mom is. Christ. Anyone watch that ESPN story? She refused to say "I love you", she told him he would never amount to anything, she paid kids to try to beat him up. AAAAAAAAAAAND she's proud of this, thinking it's somehow a general way to raise a **** kid.

Having boxing on HBO or Showtime limits the sports growth and appeal. Not everyone has access to those platforms. Having fights on ESPN or regular cable channels will broaden the sports appeal and draw more viewers.
