Wow, Cruz is finally coming back, and the BW and FW divisions get the spotlight on what is usually one of the biggest cards of the year. Good stuff.

Yeah, this is a huge coming out party for the smaller guys.

I like Barao and his style but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't rooting hard for Cruz here. Barao is a tall enough task without coming off two huge surgeries and two years of rehab. If Cruz somehow came in and won this, man, what an inspiring story that would be.

Cruz/Barao moved to the main event over Aldo/Lamas

Is Aldo/Lamas off the card? Ariel made a great point that it would make a lot of sense to put Aldo/Lamas on the fox card the week prior in Chicago. Aldo more exposure, Lamas is from Chicago, Aldo isn't a big ppv draw, etc.

If Cruz and Lamas win, and Weidman defends his title, all the champions will be American.

The chances of that happening are very small but with Faber, Edgar, and Mendes challenging, we could very well see all American champions.

I was thinking the card looks pretty incomplete this close to the date, but it's been filled out.

Jose Aldo vs. Ricardo Lamas for featherweight title
Dominick Cruz vs. Renan Barao bantamweight title unification bout
Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem
Ali Bagautinov vs. John Lineker
Bobby Green vs. Abel Trujillo
John Makdessi vs. Alan Patrick
Chris Cariaso vs. Kyoji Horiguchi
Nick Catone vs. Tom Watson
Al Iaquinta vs. Kevin Lee
Rashid Magomedov vs. Tony Martin
Neil Magny vs. Gasan Umalatov
Andy Enz vs. Clint Hester

Those Bagautinov vs. Lineker and Green vs. Trujillo additions really shore up the main card, if this is also the fight order.

Some other guys that are fun to watch on the undercard as well.

Cruz vs Barao is like something out of a movie. The champion gets injured, while he's out an undefeated guy starts destroying the whole division and eventually takes the interim title. Now the champion is returning to fight him. Pretty bad ass storyline.

The kind of storyline that would make for a compelling UFC Primetime series, but since GSP isn't involved, they aren't interested.

I don't know who over half those people are by name. But looking them up recognize some badasses. Why so many Eastern Euros? Some Chechnyan/Turk/Afghan/ME types too, if I'm recognizing names. Is it a tri-state area thing? There's like 5+.

Lineker has missed weight in 3 of his last 5.

I guess Bobby Green is exciting cos of the lead hand thing but I'm not sure he's maincard material.

Does Lamas have a chance?

Obv two titles, Cruz's return, and Mir/Overeem is crazy.

Watson had a really tough last fight but I think the guy is for real, and he's evidently a super hard worker.

I may look at betting Lamas at some of the crazy offs I was seeing on my book this morning. I think he's a good fighter, and has a much better chance than (as much as I love him) guys like KZ even.

Got Aldo, Overeem, and Barao. Cruz I think will be hindered by the layoff, but he works so hard that he might pull it off. Sick card.

Yeah, it's a sick card.

Lineker vs Ali is a #1 contender fight for flyweight. Lineker is working with Dolce now so it's likely he will make weight. And Ali is a power puncher who is a combat sambo world champ.

Kyoji Horiguchi is the reincarnation of Kid Yamamoto and one of the best prospects in the UFC. Crazy power for such a small guy. He could be key if the UFC ever wants to try and hold another UFC event in Japan.
