UFC Fight Night 58: Machida vs Dolloway (Dec 20 - Brazil)

Post#1 » by REDDzone » Fri Sep 19, 2014 1:01 am

Only fight announced is Machida vs Dolloway. I'm guessing that will be the main event.

I think Dolloway has been amazing lately, don't understand how he will compete with Machida though (at least not over 5 rounds presumably).

BTW Cpt for these events threads I made, both are far in the future, when main events are confirmed I will add them to the thread title.

Appreciated.

A weird fight as far as I'm concerned, but I guess with Bisping fighting Rockhold, Machida was left without a dance partner. Dollaway is a guy winning fights, and I don't like his face, so I'm cool with seeing it get punched repeatedly.

lol

I was looking for this thread the other day. Almost made a new one, but didn't care enough about this event to follow through with it. Last post Sept 19 indicates other people probably don't care too much either.

There's maybe 6 guys on this card I can clearly picture in my head when I see their name. Maybe 8 or 9 if I really tried.

It's been a good few weeks, and we have Jones/Cormier coming up, so it's dumb to complain, but...did we really need this card?

Patrick Cummins is that barista that Cormier beat up. I'm at 9ish also.

The top two fights are the type that could add good depth to a lacking PPV.

Anyways, they probably have commitments on how many shows they have to put on for Globo who is reportedly giving them $60 million a year (as of 2012).

Cummins was one of the 6, sadly.

Any chance that a dehydrated, recently KOed twice Barao loses to a super underrated (imo) Gagnon tonight?

Gagnon is over a 7:1 dog at my book. I'm coming off a really good night from 181, think I may throw a flyer regardless.

What's the major announcement tonight?
Probably the rematch between Hendrix lawler.

I don't think he looked that bad at the weigh in, nothing he's not used to. That being said, it's possible he's not the same fighter after his last fight.

I'm guessing Rampage's return.

The UFC is desperate for fighters that are somewhat a draw.

Nice idea by Rhodes to defend the arm triangle but he used the near leg when the far one is much more powerful in order to get some separation between your neck and your isolated arm. Its not always possible to grab the far one though.

Also, nice of Silva to get a quick finish (over 6-4 Rhodeas coming off 2 losses), continuing his pattern of alternating wins and losses for the last 3.5 years. Hopefully he gets a good opponent next so I can bet against him as per usual.

I threw a few bucks on Gagnon here at like +750. Let's see what happens. :)

The hell? FS1 just randomly started playing an episode of UFC Unleashed instead of the final two fights...

I guess they somehow lost the feed and are trying to get it back. And their solution in the meantime is to play a fight where Barao gets dominated?

LOL @ the ufc.

Gagnon was so gassed lol. Oh well. Gagnon, imo, with a bad strategy in general.
