Bump, this card is this weekend. I could have swore I made a thread for this and talked about thinking this is a good first match up good for Condit coming of injury. Maybe I just posted about it in the non thread worthy thread.

You may have, but I didn't see it on the first few pages. If you find it, I can merge them.

Updated card:

MAIN CARD
FOX Sports 1, 10 p.m. ET

Thiago Alves vs. Carlos Condit
Nik Lentz vs. Charles Oliveira
K.J. Noons vs. Alex Oliveira
Francimar Barroso vs. Ryan Jimmo
Norman Parke vs. Francisco Trinaldo
Wendell Oliveira vs. Darren Till

PRELIMINARY CARD
FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET

Damon Jackson vs. Rony Jason
Jussier Formiga vs. Wilson Reis
Nicolas Dalby vs. Elizeu Zaleski
Mirsad Bektic vs. Lucas Martins

PRELIMINARY CARD
UFC Fight Pass, 7 p.m. ET

Ericka Almeida vs. Juliana Lima
Tom Breese vs. Luiz Dutra

Some relevant stuff here, but not too much. The Brazilian cards are usually good.

Also, I don't think I will ever be able to distinguish between Juliana Pena and Juliana Lima when I see them on paper. Juliana Lima is the one I don't care about, I'm pretty sure.

Glad to see Condit back. Hopefully he is still the same fighter.

No testing for this fight, apparently.

Eesh. And ATT has some sort of protocol to avoid getting busted post-fight. ^

Tuning in now. Meh event, but I won't miss a Carlos Condit fight for anything.

Not a big Jimmo fan but hope he wins so the ufc can't cut him. He is probably the number one active fighter on their roster willing to stand up to the zuffa brass.

As we speak though his opponent is controlling him with a DEEP right underhook against the cage.

IDK wtf that was from Noons. The most embarrassing submission defense since the NHB days. Literally did not even attempt to defend the choke.

Jeez, he was puking from the nuts strike. And continued the fight. What a guy. They said 2 of his prev 3 fights had ended from injury already? That's some terrible luck. Didn't see the decision...but if he did lose, and got cut, it would be especially terrible. His opponent was super uneffective.

And, yeah, he's been really out-spoken. Respect.

I'm pretty sure Noons is in NHB-mode. I doubt he trains particularly seriously or hard, think he is just a dude who doesn't get shook and maintains self-belief throughout the fight. And can keep a 70bpm heartrate in the midst of whatever. His boxing would suggest that.

Unfortunately for him neither his low heartrate nor his boxing kept some dude nobody has ever heard of with 0 ufc wins from choking him out with ease.

I don't doubt your statement about his training though, he looked soft to me.

Pretty damn safe to take the under on 3.5 rounds in the Alves vs Condit fight, yeah? I missed the deadline on my site unfortunately. Almost wanted to bet Condit T/KO in rd 1.

Dana was tweeting about how bad the fight was, plus he takes the ufc to task and always has, I can see him being cut.

I saw him lose via injury to Manuwa, not sure what the other one was. I'll say this for him though, if bouncing around was a judging criterion, he dominated that fight.

Who was the Lentz coach who was on the jre talking about how Lentz would dominate Oliveira? Yea, that's not playing out so far. I thought that guy was a quack anyway, tbh. CBR, I think we discussed that episode.

I have a soft spot for MN fighters, but Oliveira is a bad man.

edit: Maybe I'm thinking of Dolce and mixing up the other trainer guy who was on the jre.

LOL, now that I say that, Lentz slams Oliveira on his head and passes his guard. I feel salty if Lentz wins, I have Oliveira in a parlay.

edit: Oliveira wins.

People calling for Oliveira/Holloway next. I'd love to fade Oliveira in that matchup. I'm on the Holloway train until he fights for the title.

Seriously, I know he ended up tapping, but how the hell does Lentz sit in THAT guillotine for THAT long without tapping.

There is something different about these guys as compared to normal humans. Normal humans would tap within 3 seconds to that sh*t and wake up the next morning like they have severe strep throat.
